Hi all,

My back passenger door stopped working spontaneously. The little white circle light button outside the door is no longer illuminated and pressing it does nothing. Nor does pulling at the door handle from inside The door is stuck shut and seems like a HUGE FIRE RISK. I will state that I have the door latch error message on my driver display and that toggling yhe child lock button on the drivers door does nothing for this specific door. My car is very well cared for and there is zero explainable reason for this as I drive by myself mostly, for work, but have my kids in afternoon/night and non work days and that the rear doors are not fewuently used, especially this particular one since it is nrarest the garage wall and we sre used to using the dirver side back door mostly. This began during the last of the many NJ snow storms we had, despite the garage being garage kept. There is one poster who suggested to have had a similar failure, however, my situation is different because my door is stuck in closed position and won't budge. In that person's post he showed pictures which indicate that the circuit board for E-Latch was rusted out due to obvious water intrusion.

My door doesn't move at all and it's as if someone bolted it closed. There is zero wiggle room.

I did buy a warranty since I put on alot of miles (101k of my 2022), but it only covers a percentage of the man hours needed. The whole job was quoted for me at $2400 after warranty coverage. I was able to save a considerable amount of money removing the door panel, which there were unsure they would be able to do without breaking the door panel. It turns out these, and most cars door panels have screws there are nearly impossible to access with the door in closed position.

To remove the door panel with the door stuck shut I:
1) removed the rear seat.

2) bought and used a flexbile 7MM nut driver: With my rear seat removed (surpsingly easy to do, just lift the bottom up and out) and a flexible 7MM nut tipped screw driver, I was able to unscrew the screws along the bottom of the door and side profile of door, and pop the interior door panel off. It was EXTREMELY difficult to do and required lots of patience and whiskey. I believe i have to remove the window next in order to access the E-Latch system to change out the circuit board, but again everything is more challenging because I cannot access the side profile of the door.

This is where I am stuck. I do not know how to access the E-latch circuit board with door closed. Does anyone know how to open a door where neither the interior or exterior door button/pull do not work? Even pulling on the exposed cable available inside the door panel does nothing.

Looks like you are wanting to remove the window regulator to gain access to parts behind it.

From your description it sounds like the DCMH (Door Control Module Latch- Right Rear) is faulty. Most likely water got into it? I would check the fuse for the DCMH and if it is blown, replace it. If it blows again most likely the DCMH is shorted and needs replacing. The fuse (mini-20A) for the DCMH is located in position #69 in the Battery Junction Box Fuse Panel under the hood below and to the right of the frunk tub. You will have to remove all the panels and frunk tub to access it. Your owners manual tells you how to access the BJB Fuse Panel.

If it is a defective Door Control Module-Latch, I believe the part number is LJ8Z-5826412-H

Below is the fuse location in the BJB fuse panel and a PDF on how to remove the window regulator.

Oof, yes that sucks. Just curious if you got any “door latch fault service soon” messages before it totally gave up or not?

Yeah maybe check the fuse, otherwise next step is to remove the glass so you can get that regulator panel open. I think the actual latch release cable is on the inside of the door and you won’t be able to access it until you get that opened up and remove the door latch module with the cable attached to it.

Thanks so much man. I pulled out the frunk in order to access the fuse panel and swapped out the fuse. It still does not work so it must be the DCMH. It was worth taking a stab at the fuse panel. Thanks for this info.

Well, it was worth a try and I am not saying for sure it is the DCMH but it kind of seems like it to me.
