This should be a warranty item. I would not add color commentary (you should be able to use your horn as often as you choose), simply show up and complain about the shitty workmanship.

Btw, this is the worst looking interior piece in the vehicle: looks cheap and the texture doesn’t match anything else.

Agreed, though as for the worst looking interior piece, of go with the wiper and signaling stalks with their mold separation lines and abundant flash. ?

Honestly it’s the best steering wheel I’ve had in a vehicle, I’ve yet to put a cover on it like my old cars due to wear from hands being in the same spot, but I’ve only had like Toyotas and Hyundais and Hondas

I agree with you, the steering wheel quality is terrific. My issue is with the wheel’s airbag cover that OP is referring to. It’s just a cosmetic issue with texture not matching anything else in the vehicle.

@jgillmer , I just noticed that my damn airbag cover is also cracked on both sides. You can see a white line halfway through the length that will likely start splitting open with use. My MME has ~5,500 miles and is 11 months old.

Did we miss selecting the “Performance Horn” option?

I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes an option in MY24 . I'm getting close to my 20,000 mile service. I'll report back what they tell me.

Update: Sheehy Ford of Springfield replaced the horn/airbag component as a warranty.

Must be a lot of tools where you live.

Hard to say if they’ll cover it under warranty. Wear and tear aren’t covered. Only manufacturer defects. Worth a shot though.

Covered under 3yr/36k warranty. Work completed 7/28 @ Ford Sheehy of Springfield

Many of the posters shared that it started so very slight that they thought it was a haircaught under the rubber or a dirty scratch and then it gets worse over time (my situation, too - so slight at first that I thought it was a smear). Some had to fight with thr dealership to get past claims of user abuse, but then have it happen again within days for some new owners.

I'm sure I'll have a fight on my hands, but almost certainly a defect.

Update: Sheehy Ford of Springfield covered it under 3yr/36k warranty.
