The front camera wiring harness will have to be complete replaced. It was chewed in half hopefully that's all he ate. The whole front of the car has to come off at my expense thanks cute squirrels of doom

This was my solution to the cute squirrels of doom. I relocated a number of them last year, and this year we had zero squirrels living in our yard.

There is some truth to that.
While I don't have a cat but I do I have found my dog is somewhat effective at helping. I now will free let my dog come into the garage with me when I go out there to get something from it or go to my beer fridge. It at least some what of a deterrent to have a her come out there and get her smell on things. Plus I can watch to see if there is anything that is really getting her attention. I do dread the day she catches a something out there.
Seems to work. Have him keep an eye on things. Tug of war normally ends in a tie ;).

There was a recent article about a squirrel that stockpiled 42 gallons of walnuts in a persons truck hood. Plant some walnuts trees and let the little buggers do some work for you. If they are going to live in the car, they should pay rent via picking walnuts. ;)
How many nuts fit in the frunk?

I had the same problem in my Bolt, twice. Part of the appeal is that many newer cars use organic wire insulation instead of petroleum based. The Bolt wiring was soybean based (=Tasty!) insulation. (Broke da mouth?)

The second time (in 8 months) it was fixed we did a 3 prong approach - I asked the dealer to thoroughly wash out the area with detergent to rinse away any urine or other scents that smelled like home to the rodents. I also provided metallic tape

to the technicians and had them wrap the entire exposed wiring harness in metal tape so it was not as appealing.

Finally, as soon as I got it home I installed this:

Except that I got it much cheaper on Amazon at the time. It has both ultrasonic and the flashing lights. If you are over 40 you can only hear it with the hood open on the Bolt, but it definitely had the attention of the millennials in the parking lot at work.

Something there worked.

When I sold the Bolt back to GM I stripped the above repeller out and kept it - it will be mounted into the MMe in the first day or two after it gets home. I'm not positive it will be the pre-emptive fix. Ultrasonic repellers have definitely worked in my garage before - and the in-ground stakes work well at my home for getting rid of ground squirrels and rabbits. We use no other methods than those to keep them out and any time critters have shown up its because something has had a bad battery or come unplugged. In general I believe the technology works. For the money I feel like its not worth taking the chance.

If a rodent did that to my car, I would go extreme and give em a taste of their own medicine...

I give you... the RatMat.

I have no idea how much a product like this actually costs or if it's realistic to get something like this for your residence, but then again, we are the suckers enthusiasts beta testers drivers here figuring things out as we go for our $50K cars.

***EDIT***

Real company... looks interesting. I would probably end up forgetting and stepping on it bare foot one night.

Harness is in and booked for service, quick and easy, if that was tesla I would have payed 1200 for a service charge, and then would have drove the car to a service station 600km away to get fixed when part arrived
