Bought a '21 Mach-E this past June. They're hard to get a hold of as I'm sure you all know, so I bought one remotely from a dealer in Casper, WY and had it shipped to my home on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe. It was their loaner for VIP customers with ~1000 miles on it. A red Premium / Extended range.
I've been super happy with the car until last week. On Tuesday I drove it down to the Bay Area for onboarding at a new job and parked it in a parking garage in downtown Palo Alto to charge, with about 25% battery remaining. The LED ring turned orange and I got a charge error from the Ford Pass app. Same deal after a couple more tries, so I got back in the car to move it to a different charger and saw the "Stop Safely Now" warning on the dash and it wouldn't shift out of Park. A quick Google and I knew I was f'ed so I called Roadside Assistance for a tow who took it to Sunnyvale Ford.
The service tech has been back and forth with Ford support a bunch, and they still can't figure out why it won't charge. So Ford's recommendation now is to replace the entire HV battery. That seems extreme, but I'm not really in a position to argue. Anyone else been through a similar problem?
I'm also curious how much dismantling will be required to replace the entire battery. My experience with a couple of past vehicles where something major needs to be fixed is that the car never goes back together quite the same way -- rattles or other annoying follow-on issues from imperfect reassembly.
