Strange display

I've only seen this when I forget to cancel navigation or it never recognizes I've arrived. Agree with posters above; "Cancel Navigation" will probably fix that.

The fact the Ford doesn't know what the symbol is just annoying; but you know the initial wave of responders most likely aren't trained software engineers. Just hourly employees paid to trouble shoot.

Nah. Upon further reflection, I came to the conclusion that Ford is being very clever here. They're really trying to promote their subscription-based in car navigator, the Ford Navigation Guidance System . $800 per month will get you a carbon lifeform based navigator that will only issue voice directions and will likely be able to direct your car to within 20 nm miles of your intended destination without the use of GPS or fancy electronics. No more phantom and questionable computer icons on the IPC. Aftermarket sextant port and sextant are required equipment for this only at Ford feature and will be available only through the Ford Accessories website Soon™. Some Restrictions apply.*

*Use of the Ford Navigator and related equipment will reduce rear seat occupancy limit by 1. Maximum accuracy is only achievable at night with clear skies and a visible horizon. Maximum of one nearly current direction command per hour. The ability to understand the English language and knowledge of compass directions and compas course is required. Turn-by-turn directions are unavailable while using this feature. The owner of the car is responsible for the biological needs of the Ford Navigator.

What is interesting was the reply I got from the Ford Tech. team:

After asking multiple tech department including our advance SME team about what this symbol means, we could not determine its meaning. Your Owner’s manual also does not indicate what this flag means, if you have issues as a consequence of this symbol please schedule an appointment with one of your local Ford Dealerships.

This sums up Ford's technology capabilities.

If they can't figure out a checkered flag means and they make cars, well then, we are all doomed.

Expect BlueCruise 1.3 to never make it to the finish line.

In Full Disclosure, I had to lookup "Sextant"; I thought you were going in a totally different direction. And was thinking well, maybe the $800/year maybe worth it ?

Should be easy enough to fit an astrodome onto the sunroof of an MME. Just a few cuts and glue, nothing that duct tape can’t handle. Besides, what are a few dozen miles of range in return for not having strange symbols that Ford doesn’t know about?

Clearly the Ford Tech Team needs to spend some time reading this forum so that they can learn about all of the bugs like this that have been around since day 1.

I had this happen to me as well. It turned out that the car navigation kept trying to start a navigation. Def agree that the best way is to go to the in car nav look for a destination, cancel it, then close out the app completely. it was since went away for me and never came back.

Add in voice guidance prompts guaranteed to be delivered no earlier than .34 seconds after the last possible moments and you've got my wife. She runs a bit more than $800/month, though.
