No, I’m on the ”go” pedal.

Using 1PD, I almost never touch the brake.
I believe that could be it. So much (too much) federally mandated safety equipment on the MME.

I’m not sure what your point is. I’ve had the auto braking activate with my foot pressing the “go” pedal while backing.

I’ve noticed that it’s not all about the slope. I get brakes almost every time at my daughter’s driveway even though it not as steep as mine where I never get it. I suspect there must be something about her street that the sensors pick up.
[insert here - picture of daughter dangling a broom behind the car, then quickly pulling it back when irate father starts to get out of car]

Yes, that’s when it does activate.

But if you’re braking already, I don’t think it does.

And with 1PD you can be braking depending on how hard you’re pushing the go pedal.

For me I’ve only had to activate once from the side of the garage backing out, but I was very close.

Usually it’s something like a tree branch or trash can that activates it.

I thought it was vision based using the IPMA, but there's no evidence to that in the service manual. It definitely uses the Cross Traffic/Side radar, so that could reflect off certain things to indicate to the car there's something approaching.

When I back out, I’m so close enough to the door frame that I have to cut the wheel so the mirror doesn’t hit. Never activates the brakes.
Me too but once did hit it and damaged the mirror housing slightly. I’m trying to think if I am just letting off the brake or hitting the go pedal. I think the former given the slight slope (I don’t use 1PD).

This might be a wag, but have you cleaned the reverse camera? I have noticed that here in Colorado, if the camera is not very clean, it makes the car panic when it sees snow and a lack of contrast between the immediate and distant objects.
