I think the scrapes were the result of a curb at a drive through coffee shop. Great coffee though.

Any suggestions on how to clean up this damage?

The sacrifices we make for coffee!!

I am aware of two options. You can look for some touch up paint and try to cover the curb rash yourself. If you match the color correctly, it will look better but not perfect. The other option is to hire a professional. There are mobile wheel repair vendors that will come to you. My friend used one and paid about $100 to have a wheel with similar damage repaired. It came out nearly perfect.

Go to your nearest car dealership ( any brand ) and ask for the used car manager. He/she will have somebody mobile they use for wheel repair, ask for the contact info and give them a try - won't cost much to fix that.

If I am not mistaken those surfaces are diamond-turned. Paint will not fix that. You will need a wheel repair person to turn the surface then deposit a clear coat over the new surface. ??

I watched a YouTube video. No seriously I did. It involved cleaning, a boatload of taping, then sanding using progressively finer wet dry sandpaper (starting high and going way up in grit numbers) and finally buffing with 0000 steel wool and then a polishing compound. Going lightly and taking my time, I literally can’t see it any longer and neither could my detailer.

EDIT: I also did not have any damage to the black areas. Not sure if yours has any damage there.

I did this because it’s nowhere Hawaii. I’d be inclined to find a pro to do it if I lived elsewhere.
