Bought mine first week of November in Virginia, and the seasons would change soon, making it difficult for the high performance summer Pirellis to handle things well, or perhaps even survive.

We don't have huge amounts of snow, but we have months of weather below 40. This morning it was 18 degrees when I finally got the courage to look at the thermometer.

This is what I ended up choosing after considering everything. These are the only tyres that looked to me to tick all the boxes.

Designed specifically for heavy EV, and to eliminate noise in addition to what you'd usually want out of a cold weather, all season tyre.

Very quiet. Range remains in the 3.3-3.7 mi/kWh range for me with about 120-140 miles/day.

Good lateral grip for a compound that doesn't reduce range.

These look like all season to me. I’m not sure if you’ll get any advantage with sub-40 degree weather as the compound is not specifically designed for low temps.

I’ve been running Michelin x-ice snow / winter on several vehicles including Mach-E and love the physics-defying performance. Range is great too.

I’ve been running Michelin x-ice snow / winter on several vehicles including Mach-E and love the physics-defying performance. Range is great too.
My experience with Michelin X-Ice is the same as GreaseMonkey.

Also using Michelin X-ice for last 2 winters on the Mach-E and they have been good for range and winter handling in snow or ice.

We have not put on winter tires before, but my brother swears by them in his Tesla. Do those of you who use them buy 4 new wheels to have them mounted on and how many seasons do you expect to get out of them?

Seems like a good choice of tire for a place that rarely gets snow but does experience temps below 40F for a few months of the year.

I bought a set of spare OEM wheels from a member here who had gone with wider aftermarket wheels, and then moved on to a Lightning F150. Got a spare set of the Premium all season Michelins to boot (two are already being used). I mounted Vredestein Winter tires on the spare wheel set. About to switch out my wheels within a week.

I plan to switch back to the Michelin-clad wheels sometime in late March. With a four-month use per year, I expect the Vredesteins to last thru at least four Winters, probably longer.

By April, the much softer Winter compound would wear too fast.

This system allows longer life on all tires.

We did the PIRELLI P ZERO ALL SEASON PLUS ELECT for our winter tires. Mounted them to 4 new wheels as well from Tire Rack. Then shipped them direct local Discount tire to be install on vehicle.
Snow here varies but we have the Mach E and a Rivian (for the deep stuff if needed)

They make a big difference. I bought OEM takeoff wheels identical to what came with the car from an online retailer. They were a bit more than aftermarket but not by much. I drive around 6,000 miles a year, so it’s one set for the life of the vehicle. I recently sold winter tires from a six year old car and they still had lots of life left in them.

I bought Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 Plus all-season tires for my 23.5 GTPE. This was based on plenty of recommendations here and elsewhere from Mach-E owners.

We are in the Seattle area with winters averaging 39-50, lots of rain, and minimal snow. We have another car (Volvo XC70) with snow tires if needed.

Compared to the OEM summer tires, it makes a big difference. You lose a part of the brutally direct, “driving on rails” feeling of the summer tires, but not too much. The car became much more pleasant as a daily driver, but still handles extremely well. I would say that the took the sting out of driving the GTPE on not-so-perfect roads. I am appreciating this everyday.

I guess I will switch to the OEMs in the summer.
