My massive complaint is that I typically get to my parked position and turn off the car. Once this is done the trunk and frunk button is stupidly disabled.

The thing is, cars have been designed for decades where a trunk button exists physically that is easily accessible no matter the state of the car. We hoomans have developed muscle memory and habits for when we press this button. When that changes, and or becomes impossible (turn car off > open trunk) it becomes pretty frustrating to change that habit.

Also, why do I have to press a button, wait 2 seconds for the screen to load and press another button that doesn't work half the time because I didn't press it long enough jsut to open the trunk BEFORE I turn off the car? That's really ok with you?

As long as you dont open the door, you can still open the trunk/frunk from the screen when you turn off the car.

I guess I am a dummy, I have never used the screen to open the trunk, always used the press button or the kick-to-open function. I have used the Ford App remote controls once in a while but normally use the trunk button. What's so difficult about using those as opposed to digging through the screen control?

The best example I can think of is picking up a curbside delivery (Lowes, Wal-Mart, etc). You stay in the car and someone puts your order in the trunk, so you're opening it for them from the touch screen.

I've done this when I drop off hazardous household waste; the personnel don't want (i.e, prohibit) you to get out of the car and I would prefer they not explore my car's rear trying to figure out how to open the hatch.

I see. OK. I have never done these things.

Picking up and dropping off kids at school and sports, often you pull up, car on open close and they are on the way. Or I drop the family off and I go find parking, again I open and close for them while sitting in the car.

In that scenario, you’re still in the car and you can use the sync screen button when you see them approaching the car. in other scenarios, the folks wanting a physical button are saving themselves just under 5 seconds of time.

But what i really suspect is that this is like crispy bacon vs softer bacon 🥓, it’s a religious war that no one wins.

As long as it's bacon I will pray to that god. ;)

Still: use your Ford Ap is my advice.
I'm reaching for the screen as my wife opens the door. The screen turns off when my finger is one inch from the button. Now, I have to unlock my phone. Find the Ford app. #$%%ing piece of @#$%^ app has background closed again. I wait for it to launch. I wait for it to connect, then I open the trunk. No problem.

Since I don't know what most of that means with my iPhone, I'll assume you are using an Android phone. I'm sorry for your difficulty.

OR....
Learn to keep the car on until wifey has exited...
OR....
Do the switch mod, it becomes active WHEN wifey opens the door! 😁

This is like Dell removing the escape button but giving you a settings button that you can open an on screen menu to then press the escape button. It only wastes 5 seconds! Why so much complain?

Don't need a physical button. Just a straightforward way to access the trunk/frunk. I don't need a max defrost digital button and physical button but they thought I should have two! (Another pet peeve, I can't turn off the HVAC without opening a menu. I can't turn off dual control without opening the slow menu. Which btw, futzing with HVAC controls is technically distracted driving in Michigan. IF you get in an accident turning off the HVAC while you wait for the menu to pop up you'll be liable).

I'm sorry, there's no defending the UX decisions on this car. They aren't as bad as some others but they are definitely not optimal.

If they split that Max defrost physical button into a frunk and trunk button then there would be no one complaining about anything. This is specifically why it isn't a religious debate. There were better solutions they could have done. Period.
