Hello, I’m new. I have a question: I went into system updates to set automatic updates and the screen is blank. There is no toggle. There is no place to schedule updates. It only says “details.” Ford just told me to go to the dealership and they would set automatic updates and not to worry about it.

Has anyone else run into this?

Thanks!

Even with Auto Updates turned off.....the updates still arrive. You will see an icon on the header bar of your sync screen (left of center)

Touch that icon and you can read about the update. If you want to install the package then select UPDATE button. If it fails, then it will try again later. Subsequent tries occur automatically......even if you have Auto Update turned off.

Looks like stuff is missing.
Weird. I don't know what you can do about it other than show the photo of my screen to your dealer and see if they have any suggestions?

There’s been no updates for your vehicle released yet.

When I took delivery of my 2/3/22-built GT in March, I had exactly the same System Updates screen as you. No toggle to turn on auto-updates, no way to setup a schedule. Then a couple days later it changed by itself to allow me to turn on auto-updates and set a schedule too.

Maybe as @Logal727 suggests, the issue is that no updates are available, so it isn't possible to modify the settings (i.e., Ford made a stupid design decision, or it's a bug). But for me it did resolve itself, presumably when the BlueCruise maps needed updating (and therefore an update became available).

I suggest you check your Sync About information on the center screen and see what the expiration date is for BlueCruise. If it's Oct (or thereabouts), then there truly are no updates for your car. If however it is expired, then you will need to get the car updated, which in your case may be a trip to the dealership.

Good luck!

I’m hoping the updates are like iOS on iPhone: the whole iOS is redone loaded with the software update.

I've only had the BlueCruise update so far, but in general the OTA updates are more targeted and address specific modules. That said, Ford has announced there will be a major UX update later this year...

Was this issue resolved? I got a 2022 mach e premium a week ago and my code is at 3.5.2 with no option to set automatic updates or schedule updates. Not sure what to do?

My Mach e was the same: no auto or scheduling in the menu. I was told by the dealership that the factory default is automatic. They were correct. I got an update after 6 weeks and suddenly the auto and schedule was there.

Thanks…but how do I update to the latest? Do I have to wait until ford pushes it? I want to go to the latest as it has more features including YouTube etc

You can have it done at the dealership. That’s what I did. That was a few days after I bought the car. I still had no auto or schedule for six weeks afterwards. Then an OTA update pushed through and suddenly it was there.
