Thanks for the writeup @SnowBunnE , I am really glad to hear that you are OK. Selfishly I am happy to see all crashes where drivers walk away unharmed.

I sincerely hope you will enjoy your Kia! To me it is a great car! I would have gotten it as well, but it just so happened that my local Ford dealer had a MME without delivery time and Kia had 6m+ waiting time.

thx! I appreciate it. I think THAT point, (SAFETY) can’t be understated. This was a BAD crash. I walked away from it. Anyone here driving an MME is driving in a VERY safe vehicle. I, the unwilling crash test dummy, can attest to it. So, for you on the fence about the MME, I wouldn’t hesitate. Yes, I like the Kia a little more but, I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t miss some things about my MME. The storage being the biggest. It’s like moving on from a past relationship to the partner you feel like you will marry. There are always aspects of the old flame that will stick with you. That says nothing bad about the old flame…things change.

my Kia still has the “new car” smell. I’ll definitely let the group here know about some of the issues I encounter as I spend more time with her. I’m sure that, like me when I 1st got here , there are some prospective EV buyers who haven’t quite made their decision about which car to buy.

and for the record: the Kia forums couldn’t carry this forums water…

TLDR - My GT was hit and totaled by a driver last Tuesday. Dealership would not budge on the ADM. Purchased an EV6 with No Markup. I compare both cars.

Well, it happened. On 3/8/22 my Mach E was totaled by another driver. I was in the car but, miraculously walked away mostly unscathed. Luckily, a Cop witnessed the whole thing so the insurance claim flew along in near record time. Considering how fast he was traveling, had he T-Boned instead of swiped me, well, I’d rather not think about that. My car was totaled. His car ended up +200 feet up the road after impact to give you an idea of how fast he was going. I’m lucky to be alive.

The next day, I called my dealership (Conshahocken Ford) and my Ford sales guy (Pete) let me know that there was another GT coming in the next 10 days that I could “hold” with a down payment. I explicitly expressed that I was not going to pay a markup and if they were going to charge me one, I would not be interested. His answer “come in, let me see what I can do” turns out, he couldn’t do ?.

The finance manager wanted 10K over MSRP, and was only willing to come down to 5k. After a rise in both the price of the car AND interest rates, I wasn’t willing to budge more than $2500. Considering I just purchased a Mach E back in December, maybe I was foolish to believe that they would give me some consideration. Nevertheless, after 20 minutes stuck in the mud, I wished Pete the best and left.

A while back, someone posted pics of the KIA EV6 here. While I didn’t like look from the rear as much as my GT, I did admire the look of the car overall. After seeing one in the wild a couple weeks ago and again at the Philadelphia Car Show last week, it was still on my mind. Highly motivated to buy another EV ASAP (I’m not the ONLY one looking at those gas prices, Amirite?) I went home and did a little research on the EV6. Not bad…not bad at all. After hoping against hope and calling all of the Ford dealers in the area (each with a 5K-15K markup on all Mach E’s) I decided to travel to the local Kia dealership.

I’m glad that I did.

Turns out, they had a 1st edition EV6-GT-Line available. The catch? $5000 over MSRP. I told myself that if I really liked the car, and it came close to the GT Mach E, I would purchase it. Because it costs less than the GT, I would be able to afford the Markup…not that I had plans on paying over MSRP for it…

After the test drive, I was absolutely sold. For as cold as my Ford dealership was, the Kia dealership was the total opposite. Warm and friendly, we made a deal and signed some initial paperwork. Turns out, the actual ADM was $1811 over MSRP. I was able to negotiate that down to $0 and wound up paying appx $3K in “dealer options” that I may or may not have taken otherwise. View attachment 57617
These are the “options” that were added to the deal. Free inspections for life and the various protection plans (of which I would have probably passed on) are listed above.
Hey, if they are gonna try and uckf me with the ADM’s at least give me a lollipop afterwards…??.

All in all, I was able to get a fully spec’d EV6 GT-Line 1st edition for less than I paid for the Mach E GT. After driving it in the test drive and subsequently to the shop that takes care of my PPF, I have a few comments about the comparison.

What I’ll miss about my GT (Exterior)
  • I loved the Rims on the GT. That flower petal design grew on me and grew on me quickly. Edit: and as mentioned, they were a breeze to clean.
  • The rear end of the Mustang looks better than a lot of the cars out there. Compared to the EV6’s rear (Which IS growing on me), the MME will be missed. Walking up to my MME from the back gave me the same smile as walking up to my wife from the back…both shaped exactly how I like.
  • The light up Pony on the GT Face is just cool…period.
  • The satisfaction of having an exclusive car that was complimented daily. (This actually may be an EV thing because I’ve been asked about the EV6 multiple times already).
What I’ll miss about my GT (Interior)
  • The Panoramic Roof (which created additional headroom in the rear)
  • 0-60 in 3.8 seconds
  • Storage (Frunk and Trunk)
As you can see, the list of things I’ll miss are minimal, at best. Besides the design of the rear of the MME and the pano-roof, the EV6 is (and I hate to say it here…) Better..to ME. This isn’t a Mustang hater speaking either, btw…I LOVED my GT…but after 4 months as my daily (and part time Uber/Lyft) driver, I have many many hours driving the vehicle. I feel at least somewhat qualified to make a non biased comparison. Let me explain.

What I don’t like about the EV6 (Exterior)
  • The Rims are…meh. I’ve been looking for MMEGT style rims ever since I picked the EV6 up. These rims look easy to clean as well, I just don’t like them as much. They remind me of a 90’s Hot Wheels car or something…??.
  • The rear is ok…in a Aston Martin-ish kind of way…like I mentioned before, it’s growing on me and DEFINITELY looks better in person than in the pics. If they change the styling of the GT when it drops, I’ll be on that b4 u can blink.
What I don’t like about the EV6 (Interior)
  • Storage - This is my biggest gripe and a space that I feel Kia REALLY dropped the ball. There is NO storage to speak of. Yes, there is a “frunk” but, It won’t hold more than a ream of paper. Same for the storage under the “trunk space” it’s abysmal. View attachment 57613
  • If you enjoy the frunk of the Mach E and Model Y…then be ready for some serious compromises if you choose any EV6 AWD model with the upgraded sound system. It really is frustratingly small. I’m still trying to figure out the best place for the charging cables (which don’t come with the car, btw).
  • No Panoramic Roof. They say that there is one but, its just an extra wide sunroof for the front passengers. It does open so, there’s that. ??
  • The sound system…it’s not nearly as punchy as the Ford. I’ll be making some mods here for sure.
  • WIRED Carplay/Android Auto…SMH

Besides those points…I can honestly say that Kia has somehow bested what I thought was the best EV of last year. How is it better you ask?

  • Infotainment System / Tech - The dual 12” screens (One of which is touchscreen) are sharp, customizable and snappy. The lag is minimal and while it isn’t Tesla smooth, it’s close…damn close. The driver screen, unlike the one on the MME, provides a wealth of information and has option screens which provide additional information about the car. There is an Augmented Reality screen on the windshield which shows turn by turn directions actually ON the road in front of you as well as relevant speed limit info, speed etc. It’s really cool and a very nice touch coming from a pretty basic and static 2nd screen on the MME. View attachment 57606 There is also a cool feature where, when you turn on your turn signal, the camera under your respective side mirror shows a real time video of your blind spot. This is in addition to the blind spot that shows both on the AR projection and the bright ⚠ sign on the side mirrors. View attachment 57608 (A feature I’m sure Ford will make available in future updates)
  • The interior quality speaks to a quality level at worse: on par or slightly better than the MME and at best…It’s an elevated experience. At least for the driver…I’ve yet to ride in the rear. The kids love it tho…but they don’t count ?
  • Ride Quality - Very quiet cabin. The only ride that beats it is the MME GTPE. If you don’t have one of those, you’re not beating the quality of the ride on the EV6. ? It’s composed, comfortable, not nearly as Firm as my GT yet handles turns with the same or better sure footedness as my GT. I’m sure the 255/45R20’s had a part to play there. There is a tighter turn radius as well. The car IS zippy. Not 3.8 0-60 but 4.6 0-60 isn’t anything to sneeze at. I am still surprising sports cars off the light and I can pass on the highway as needed…just like the MME. There isn’t a “5 seconds of power” limitation either.
  • LED Lighting - Looks much better and is more pronounced in the EV6….if you like that kind of thing. The kids love it.
  • Heated and Cooled front seats, Heated rear seats, that slightly recline.
  • A Heat Pump!
  • Faster Charging (I’ve only seen up to 278Kw charging speeds but, I was able to top off my car from 67% to 90% in 5 minutes or so. THIS will be key on road trips for my family and I.
  • 10 yr / 100000 mile warranty on the battery and other parts…incredible. I purchased the extended warranty from Ford on my car to help with the 3 year/36000 MAX warranty.
  • Vehicle to Load - I dont see myself ever using this feature but, who knows….maybe I will one day.

Overall, I’m very very happy with my choice. I will say this however, there are NO fans like Mustang fans…I could always depend on a steady stream of info, news, pics, idea and comedy in this forum. I may lurk for a lil while longer but, try not to blow by me if you see me around these Philadelphia Streets…?. Safe rides and long ranges folks…✌?

Did the other insurance company pay you "market value" for your loss as opposed to MSRP??

Glad you're OK! I grabbed a Wind EV6 AWD off the lot a few weeks ago while I'm waiting for my MME Premium AWD ER to come in (ordered 1/18). I was able to only pay the dealer handling fee ($600) without any specific 'market adjustment' on the EV6 so I figured I'd roll with that for ~6+ months and then trade it in for the MME, assuming it will hold it's value fairly well given the current demand.

EV6 is a GREAT car! I would be perfectly happy driving it for years to come but I still have my eyes on the Mach-E. Just like the looks of it a little more and I want that pano roof and wireless car-play. The only major knocks I have on the EV6 are the lack of a real frunk and no wireless car play. Still a joy to drive though. Enjoy!

Glad to hear you're good and also glad to see the EV6 and other EVs giving the MME such good competition. The MME itself is evidence that Ford can read the winds since so much of the car, even to a fault (giant portrait center screen I am looking at you) after Ford watched the success Tesla has in the EV segment and clearly tried to replicate certain aspects.

So hopefully these strong vehicles keep coming and keep pushing Ford higher. There is little doubt the next major change the the MME will be to the max charging rate/overall curve, probably a heat pump, other things that more recently developed EVs are coming with and improve owner experience.

I work at Ford and that makes me appreciate the competition more and more because I have seen what can happen at Ford and other companies when things get stagnant. The EV market is going to be pretty wild over the next decade with more EV introductions in segments without much representation (EV Explorer/Expedition for example) and advancements in charging and efficiency. I know Ford can step up to the plate as well as anyone, often better, and having the fire lit under them by cars like the EV6 or ID.4 will only get those of us that buy the MME a better product.

Why are you trolling this thread? Please just stop. Many of us are still comparing options, and appreciate the opinions of individuals who have been fortunate enough to already own both of these EVs. This forum is not a Mach E safe space, and you do yourself and others a disservice by trying to silence or force out individuals who offer criticism of it. I’ve been weighing these cars against each other, and really appreciated OPs input on both.

I think the EV6 checks a lot of boxes for me over my Mach-E premium.
wider tires
Faster charging
Towing capability for a couple bikes
Ventilated seats.

However, after test driving, I’ve decided to stick with the MachE. The one sticking point for me is how well the driving assist tech works on the MachE on non-divided highways and how poorly the EV6 does in those same conditions. I use the lane centering and adaptive cruise control pretty much everywhere in the MachE and it has become a priority feature for me. I really enjoyed all the other aspects and hope they can improve this area in the future. Enjoy your new ride, it’s a nice one. Glad you are safe and sorry this happened.

Do you live in a home without mirrors?

You complain that the OP and others are too sensitive…… and you do so while being extremely defensive.

You complain the above poster is the self appointed “thread police” while that’s all you‘ve done in this thread is tell others what they can and can’t do here.

You tell the OP to “lighten up,” while coming at everyone with intensity.

My favorite is your lecture on cognitive dissonance…….. which exactly what you were experiencing in the only thread you started about the GT suspension!

It’s time for some self reflection.

Look, you are right in that OP clearly wishes he could have gotten another MME GT, this is evident in his mentioning that he’s already considering selling his EV6 for an EV6 GT down the road. I can infer that it’s not the “rear end styling” that he misses so much as it is the power but do we really need to remind him of that? I mean it’s gotta suck having a car totaled that you can’t replace unless you’re willing to eat a hefty markup. He’s already making a big concession by going with what is clearly his second choice because you’re right, if he was really that hyped he be lighting up the EV6 boards talking about how his happy accident got him out of an inferior car…but he’s not, no reason for us to crap em out further.

Well, let me speak for myself…that ok????

it wasn’t the power of the GT I was looking at but the styling of the rear, which Is still growing on me but, as I mentioned before, it’s not a dealbreaker. The closest thing to a deal breaker is the lack of a large rear and front frunk but I was able to fit my charging cable in there so, it’s not as bad as I initially thought.

For the 3rd (or is it 5th and 6th time now?) I PREFER THE EV6. Not sure if you guys are hard of reading or if my retort to your snide comments got you in your feelings but Jesus, let it rest. It’s as if you can’t take it that someone actually prefers another car after you spent your coins on the Mach E. It’s getting comical at this point and actually embarrassing for you.

There is enough space on this forum for views that may not “follow suit” especially if they are presented in a way that doesn’t disrespect anyone else’s opinion about the MME. I was a voyeur on here before I actually purchased MY MME and would welcome any opinions / info about it OR any other EV.

Finally, please stop “inferring” what I mean when I say what I say. 1st we had “Dr. Iknowyourfeelings” with the Psychoanalysis and NOW we have Psychic “IKNOWWHATYOUTHOUGHTLASTPOST” trying to speak for me. If you have ascertained nothing else from my words, please know that I am fully capable of expressing my own thoughts, feelings, and opinions. Y’all trolls are too short (minded or emotionally) to keep boxing on an Internet forum like this. You’re at the point where you are truly making yourselves look silly. ?

For EVERYONE ELSE, that has offered well wishes, intelligent perspectives and genuine questions/comments, I thank you and welcome any other questions about the EV6 that….for the reading impaired….I ?? Over the ?. Again, no shade and ill will towards Ford (this is the last time I’m entertaining trolls btw).

I respect that. My car didn’t have Bluecruis as it wasn’t a feature I needed. I’m a keep “your hands on the wheel” driver and I rarely use cruise control (maybe once in the past 10 years) so that wasn’t huge for me. Like you, the EV6 checks off a LOT of boxes, even some I didn’t know I wanted (there is a touch less trunk opening that I accidentally stumbled upon) and the HUD with directions is absolutely amazing. It works best with the Kia Navigation and not Google Maps so, that kinda sucks. Maybe in a future update.

in terms of the actual driving experience…we already know that there is a low center of gravity so it sticks to the road…and I’ve spoken of the cornering of the car Previously.I read that one of the developers of the car was a high level Exec from BMW and it most definitely feels like a German car. If you like German cars, u won’t be disappointed. That is, if you are in the market.

cockpit is cozier ( in a good way) and all of the screens are angled towards the driver as well. Not sure why I like that so much but it feels like a car designed for the driver (which it should be) with comforts for the passengers.

I also can confirm that the seats sit lower than the Mach E. Front and Back. If you are taller (I’m 6’) say over 6’1”, it will work for you with some adjustments but this is NOT the car to taxi around tall occupants. The moonroof helps create headroom but, just for the front passengers. Oh and the room under the front row seats is tighter than a closed wafflemaker.

The car is very quick and WILL push your head back in your seat, like the MME GT. It’s comparable because the car is a little lighter than the MME.

Finally, the car has been more efficient. They tell you how Your usage is, in real time, which has lightened my lead foot. They also give you guesstimates on your range based on the mode you are in and if your HVACis being used. Very very useful. Where the EV6 shines the most is in the driving experience (be it the cockpit, tech or actually driving.) I havent Noticed the “floaty/sluggish” driving…I will say this ECO mode driving MME > ECO mode driving EV6 but, who the hell drives in THAT mode? Not me ??

Please keep posting about your EV6. I'm seriously thinking of purchasing on for the wife. They are saying 6-8 months for delivery. If I use Kia financing, no ADM.
