Hi fellow MME owners,

I was wondering if anyone has experienced a stuck tailgate (from opening) before? I am the original owner of a '21 Job 1 Select with tech package. My 3-year warranty is expiring this month and this problem that popped up yesterday is causing some concern.

When I tried to open my tailgate/trunk via any methods (remote, tailgate button, kick-to-open sensor, center screen), the tailgate tries to open, but gets stuck after moving like a millimeter. I heard the chime with 3 (or 4 cant remember) beeps. The same chime as if the tailgate hit something (like a low ceiling garage). However, I was outdoors and nothing was blocking the tailgate. There's also nothing in the way inside the trunk.

After trying to open it like 20 other times throughout the day at different times, I had some success. Some times it opens normally, some times it opens with a loud "thud". Obvious thing to do is to bring it to a dealer ASAP before warranty expires and hopes that they can reproduce the problem, but please let me know if you also had the same problem.

Thanks!

I've had issues with my liftgate for a few months now. It will not open at all while charging, and only via button/FP/keyfob when not charging (the button in Sync doesn't work).

Occasionally I'll get the chime like you've mentioned, other times not. I checked codes via ODB port and sure enough there's some logged for the liftgate.

It's going in to service this week to hopefully fix (and do the HVBJB recall while it's there).

Thanks methorian for sharing your experience! Yesterday, I was able to make an appointment at the dealer in two weeks, which is right before my warranty expires. Unfortunately, my liftgate decided to be normal functioning yesterday (not even the "thud" noise). Hopefully it acts up at the dealership in 2 weeks. Do you know if the OBDII codes are retained for a while? Basically, I am wondering if the tech can still pull the codes that are ~2 weeks old.

Yea, they'll be logged there until cleared, so no worries!

Hi there! Would you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location? I’d like to look into this concern on my end.

I'm experiencing the same issue in my 22 GT. I can get it to open when it moves that millimeter by just grabbing it and forcing it up manually.

It's not consistently happening.

Have you tried resetting your 12v? It solved my liftgate issue.

edit: I googled. Will try.
