I went in the car this morning and was greeted by this update. It makes the Tesla charging experience a simple plug & play. Does anyone knows if the kWh rate for non-Tesla's will be the same standard rate? Also, is charging at a TS more or less than a traditional charging station?

Tons of posts about this. The rate for non-Teslas at a Supercharger is higher. How it compares to EA rates all depends on the location (and sometimes time of day).

Are you answering the question about the rate at which the car will charge or his second question about cost?

For the current that the SC sends to the car (ie rate of charge) it would be the max the car can take given the ambient and battery temperatures. The superchargers we can use and the adapter are capable of handling as much power as the car is able to take.

I checked random Tesla sites to see what the cost was and it is all over the place. I've seen it as high as $1+. With a $13mo subscription it gets cheaper but I have not pulled the trigger on that yet so I don't know the discount.

In my area, Knoxville Tesla and EA are pretty comparable.

When I compared my Tesla rate and my co-worker's TM3 - it was $0.15 - $0.20 /kWh more charging the Ford.

We pulled up the same location for the same time on our Tesla apps.

Ford rate was without the Tesla subscription / membership.

Tesla's rate for Ford is not too high, if I charge early or very late (off peak).

As others said, it is usually 15-20 cents more. But I believe they have a monthly membership to buy down the rate to the same they charge for Tesla vehicles. Definitely get that if you will be using it a lot.

EA is $7mo now but you can cancel and restart anytime and it requires a CC and a $$ amount that reloads automatically.

Tesla is $13mo but I don't know if you can cancel and restart whenever you want like EA or is it requires an auto reload ?‍♂

You can get the rate for a specific charger off of Tesla's website, but you have to enable the filters for NACS and "other EVs" to only show the ones we can use. zoom in on a site, click it, and you'll see the rate. For other networks you can go into plugshare.com to the rates, which as the general said are typically time of day based:

YOu can actually get the charge rate for a given tesla station on the fordpass app, click on "map" right lower corner then "select" a particular charger and the info screen comes up.

FYI for chargers with a variable TOU rate it show the last rate in the table and the range of rates but not the table. In this case it's wrong. Here's a clip of a station that has a variable rate that I took at 1:17:

But per the table on the Tesla website the kwh fee should be $.53/kwh at 1:17pm:
