Much ado has been made recently about Ford (& others) buying into a gadget that will let J1772 vehicles use Tesla charging stations. Seems far off; only 10 in NY and 10 in CA. Sounds like an adapter on a Tesla charging cable that would use or release based on what your Tesla charging account said you owned. But on Amazon I see a slew of Tesla to J1779 adapters from $40 to $150. Do these work? Do they only do level 2 charging (which might do in a pinch if you have a lengthy dinner at Wawa)? Do all/some Tesla chargers employ DCFC (or whatever Tesla might call that concept)? What's the catch?
And . . . while charging at home, I tried to get info from the car about charging rate from the Charging screen. Typically Ford Useless; only shows % charge and expected full charge time. Was hoping to get actual info on charging rate in kW or amps from car. Nada. My 240 charging typically charges at about 7.5 kW (60 amps house circuit).

J1772 is for L2 charging. CCS-1 is for DCFC (aka L3) charging. There are currently no approved Tesla NACS to CCS-1 adaptors other than the Tesla Magic Dock. Adaptors will become available through either Ford or Tesla (possibly both) in 2024. ??

If you only need L2 charging, there are several Tesla Destination to J1772 adaptors. ??

And I have seen some claiming to be selling adapters for when Superchargers become available but I would not jump the gun as there is no certainty they will be compatible.

There are 4 Magic Dock locations in WA. The thing the companies are buying into is using NACS charging standard going forward. NACS to CCS adapters will be available sometime next year.

The NACS to J1772 is do you can use Tesla level 2 destination chargers.
