You're OK to pick whatever breaker was installed to your charger. Your car will only ask for its max amperage regardless of charger capacity. In this case though, 60 amps would allow for max request of 48 amps (80% max continuous load) which is the max of our Mach E's so you're set.

As noted above, it's not a survey. Go open your panel and look at the breaker. That's what you pick, assuming you had a competent electrician.

If I'm not mistaken the Tesla charger runs a self test of your breaker and will only deliver what your breaker is capable of safely delivering. That is how my electrician who installed it explained it. Besides that, see above and set it accordingly. BTW the only downside to this charger is it is kind of a pain to change this setting (some might want to more closely match their solar generation) often, otherwise great charger.

That is FALSE. The unit is not capable of auto-detecting the breaker size. It MUST be set MANUALLY. In your case, I would verify your breaker size setting ASAP because it may have been set wrong by that clueless electrician.

I have a 60a breaker, but I have my Tesla unit set to 50a max so that it runs a little cooler.

Additionally, if your Universal charger is plugged into an outlet and not hard-wired, the maximum breaker size should be set to no more than 50A because the 14-50 outlet supports no more than 50A. ??
