I got my Mach E GTPE recently and due to these forums, recommendation for a wall charger was the Tesla Universal. Already have two powerwalls and solar, this made perfect sense. I had it installed today, everything ties in very nicely. I don't care for Elon and Tesla motors, but Tesla electric still has some of my respect. Either way, its cool to have all my power (solar, powerwalls, car charging) in one ecosystem.

Wise choice. We’re looking to install one in our building. How’s the build quality and sturdiness of the j1772 adapter?

I did the same thing, nice unit but by itself it doesn’t tell you shit. Only that you charged and the amount of kW consumed. No way to enter electricity rate or even get totals consumption for the month or year without exporting to excel. I was hoping it would differentiate between charging the Mach-E vs the Tesla but it doesn’t. After all the negative I am still glad I switched from my Wallbox. It’s easier for my wife to charge without needing the adapter which is a win.
The full integration photo looks legit. Thanks for sharing

We are looking at picking up some for work to test it in a more active environment and if they are study we hope to switch from charge point chargers for the public. Overall it seems solid.

It’s a time proof solution given where the industry is going.

Its been half a day and I was using the charger that came with the Mach E for almost a month. Tesla Universal Charger literally plugs in no issues, and charging happens. I see I am sending 11.5kw into the car. Charger build quality seems legit. It took about 6 weeks to get it after I ordered it. I have two Tesla 2 powerwalls and they have been outstanding as well. Tesla does get certain things right.

Wallconnector app tells you quite a bit. I had also added mine to Home Assistant. Mines in a box now because the inability to adjust on the fly.

100% this. If we ever sell our house, it has a universal charger that kicks out 11.5kw to any electric vehicle.

I installed one a few weeks ago and no regrets. Solid build quality and works as expected every time.

Looking to add a Tesla Universal charger as well. Have solar and powerwalls so seems like the way to go. Any noticed loss of function with a MME vs. having a Tesla? For example, if loss of power would the charger stop so the powerwalls are not drained below the level set in the Tesla app? Able to charge on only excess solar?

Any other difference because not a Tesla car?

There is a slider bar in the Tesla App under Vehicle Charging that allows you to share whatever % of your powerwalls with the vehicle. The default is 75/25. 75 saved for home use when off grid, 25% can be shared with the MME off grid.
