Tested A2Z adapter which I got because the free one won’t be here in time for my trip at a Tesla station today. Didn’t really need to charge so only got 65 KW speed. A couple of things to note.

The first one we tried looked like it started but cycled from Blue to Red and back. Car said charging station fault and phone said connected but not charging. Moved to 2 other spots and neither would start. I gave up and moved to normal parking while we had dinner. I contacted A2Z and they called me right back after dinner.

Went back and tried again on one of the chargers that would not connect. I believe it was user error. I think I was pushing the lock button the wrong direction.

This time it worked. I spoke with the gentleman from A2Z and we discussed what I was seeing. He said that if we are on a trip within the warranty period and the adapter fails they will overnight one to a location on your itinerary. That is comforting. They plan on establishing an emergency helpline soon.

For grins I retried the first station again and it faulted again.

The biggest thing was making sure the software update installed successfully after getting conflicting messages about the status of the update from the car and Ford Pass.

I went out exploring DCFCing today and got the "Charge Station Fault See Manual" message at a Tesla station. The Tesla station was in FordPass and I was using the A2Z adapter. I thought I was doing it all correctly and starting the session right, but according to the manual it's a cord or station fault.

I will try another Tesla station another day, and I'll make sure the lock button is pushed in, though I tried several times and I thought both locks were tight. It was crowded (Sheetz) so I couldn't try another tower. Then I went to another Tesla station (Wawa) that was in Plug Share, but when I got there it wasn't in Ford Pass ?‍♂

The car throws that fault if the adapter is not completely seared and locked. Clues:

The adapter lock doesn’t fully engage.
The charger port lights don’t turn from white to blue but go red instead.
You don’t hear the CCS latch servo engage on the car

Thanks for these tips David. I will try another Tesla tower at that Sheetz station again tomorrow.

Just keep in mind that the lock latch on the A2Z adapter can be hard to slide into the lock position depending on the charger handle at each Tesla tower. I've found that the tolerances on each Tesla tower handle can be different. That'll make sliding the lock into place trickier. Some people on this forum have had to apply force in order to get the charger handle to slide far enough into the adapter for the adapter lock to engage.

Many are doing it wrong.

1) Make sure the latch is open.
2) Push the adapter firmly onto the hose until you hear it click.
3) Make sure the latch is closed.

I think a lot of people are failing to insert it in a firm quick manor. You might consider spraying the ends with a bit of dry lubricant or pure silicone spray. Spraying the outside of the CCS end will help it go into your Mach E. Spraying the inside of the J3400 end will help get it out as some people are having the Tesla end stick inside the adapter.

Finally, don't forget to fully secure that manual latch on the bottom when you attach the Tesla end into the adapter.
