Text messaging not working

Has anyone been able to send and receive texts via Bluetooth (not CarPlay)? When I connect to Bluetooth and go to the messaging setting it says “Sync does not have access to messaging from [user’s] iPhone.” I checked every setting in my phone and I see no reason why it won’t connect. I also tried the owner’s manual but no luck. My contacts synced and I can listen to music via Bluetooth just fine.

Thanks! I came across that post myself and tried it but without any luck. I’ll keep trying things.

I'm using an iPhone. You press and hold the "voice interaction" button on the steering wheel and Siri will greet you. You can use voice commands for text messaging through Siri. You can't do it through Sync.
