For all that effort you could have put in a 50 amp circuit with 6 ga wire.
Agreed, however the jump from 8 to 6 came with a decent jump in cost. Given we only plan on staying here another 6 months, or less, I did not want the expense. I was already debating on not installing the 240 all together. The 110 charging was just killen me though so I could justify it.

No an inspection was not included, I’d have to get it on my own. Even the fully licensed company that was asking two times more did not include an inspection. /shrug
I'm a little confused. An inspection by your local electrical and building inspectors should be part of the permitting process and doesn't cost you anything extra. That is, unless the electrician didn't fill out building permits and get the work approved ahead of time. If that's the case, then you are running a bit of a small gamble - with how adequately the electrician did the work and when you go to sell the house. if San Diego requires a certificate of occupancy like new jersey now does, the inspector could potentially pull permits and actually make you take it out. I seriously doubt that will happen, but in general the process and the inspectors themselves are there to protect YOU the homeowner form contractors that cut corners. They are also there to protect the next homeowner.

The fact that the electrician gave you a cheaper price for NOT following that process should have set off alarm bells.
