The fob does rule:

Today I'm going back to the fob, again. Paak just doesn't work. I can take occasional hiccups but the backup code often doesn't appear which quickly turns into frustration and embarrassment.

The last few weeks FP has drained my battery every couple days even when it's closed.

I've checked and rechecked settings, reset Paak 5-6 times to no avail.

Ford and their half-baked software. My last seven vehicles are from two manufactures, I'm a very loyal customer. Don't think I'll be loyal with Ford. In a few years there will be so much competition it will be hard to forget the incompetence with Ford software, lack of customer service, and the one fob BS. I do really like the car besides the above-mentioned Ford failures. Ciao ciao.

And THIS is precisely why I constantly recommend skipping PaaK and just using the fob, despite how it aggrieves other forum members. It's not worth getting so frustrated over that it taints the entire experience with what is otherwise a pretty great car.

This.

While I like PAAK and it works for me, if it didn’t, I’d not lose a second of sleep. Just switch to the FOB and get on with it. PAAK isn’t the Holy Grail of Cardom.

Exactly. I abondoned PAAK the first week. Could see it was a mess. But moreover, I knew cellphone bluetooth was often flaky from phone to phone anyway. And wasn't something I wanted to rely on to unlock and start my car. For that, I want 99.99% dependability. And that sure ain't cell phone bluetooth (even if the Ford software were perfect, which of course it's far from).

Even if PaaK worked, I still wouldn't use it. Anyone in the household is free to use the vehicle if available. Passing a fob between users is better than letting someone take my phone when they want to drive the car.

Edit: On a totally different side note....when I read the title of this thread I think of one my favorite double live albums. Black Sabbath Mob Rules. :)

I guess the point in PaaK is not in passing one's phone but in setting phones of all drivers with PaaK so each driver has a unique profile.

I won't pay for a second fob but I would pay for a smaller substitute from someone other than Ford. I wish Paak worked, I really like the idea. I don't have any keys to carry so not having a fob sounded great. Maybe in 2031 Ford will get BC, Paak, and the rest of the bugs worked out. lol

So if Ford tried to give you a second key, you would throw it back in their face?
;)

My family are strictly forbidden to use the Mustang, so I only needed one key myself.

What do people mean when they repeatedly say that “FordPass drains their phone batteries”? While I’m not a big fan of FordPass, that’s not one of the complaints I have about it. FordPass appears to use roughly 13% of my battery while Apple News uses 39% of my battery. I should be annoyed at Apple and their News app battery hog!

Some Android users are experiencing random battery drain issues by FP. I only started to have this problem the last two weeks, others it's been an issue for for a long time. Even if you close FP it still drains the battery. The crack team at Ford I'm sure is working on it after they finish intergrading tic-tac-toe to FP. ?

Yes, it is an Android issue, and it is happening to me as well. Random, and I sometimes don't realize it is happening until it is too late and my phone is dead or almost dead.

I thought I was going to be a joke thread. Kind of disappointed. ;)

Too much to ask. Difficult enough to set up one phone let alone 10 or 12 more. Besides, I want to control when others are allowed to use the car. If I give them the fob then they have my permission.

I immediately thought this thread must be the long-awaited sequel to "The Ciderhouse Rules."
