I wanted to say how much I have appreciated learning about my Mach E and talking with the wonderful members on this forum. But today I sold my 2021 Mach E and purchased a 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime PHEV. It was a decision that was a long time coming for numerous reasons; my wife wanted me to sell the car, she had terrible range anxiety with a 210 mile range in warmer weather and 30% or more decrease in the winter, I was tired of worrying about the HVJB issue and feeling like I was driving a time bomb waiting for a possible (probable) failure and Ford's failure to address the root cause and do what is right IMHO; the lack of EVSE stations and especially stations that work (this will get better with time but that may take years), the fact that I could get more for my Mach E then I paid for it new, my wife and my reluctance on taking the Mach E for long trips, and several other reasons I don't want to get into.

My Mach E was beautiful and I will miss that. Infinite Blue Metallic and the Light Space Grey interior was a color combination that my wife picked out and I loved it. The RAV4 is Midnight Black Metallic and this is a color which I have never owned before and I will have to learn how to take care of a black car (I think they show more dirt/salt than other colors). The car also came ceramic coated with a 5 year guarantee and of course really shines. It is not as good as a job done at a detail shop but since it was thrown in I took it.. The car came with PPF already applied, side door moldings, door edge guards, mud flaps, roof rack which our Acura luggage roof carrier will fit and many other options I wanted. I feel the RAV4 plug-in hybrid is the best of both worlds in that it runs on battery power alone for 44 miles and then switches to the hybrid mode getting 38 to 44 mpg. It's range is listed at 600 miles which is a far cry from the Mach E's 210 miles and will eliminate any range anxiety my wife or I had. Most of the time we will be using the battery around home and not burn any gas. I already have the Grizzl-E EVSE so I'm all set there. It is lacking other things, however, the most important to me being a sound system which is not very robust. I am pretty sure that I will replace the OEM sound system and replace it with a better system (probably JBL).

I will continue to monitor this board from time to time and check in to see what is going on with the members and their cars.

Thank everyone again for such a knowledgeable, helpful and pleasant experience and I can only hope that the RAV4 Prime Forum will be as good as this forum is.

I know, I've only been on there a short time and I miss the knowledge that comes from here. Hopefully, things will improve. And thank you, we enjoyed driving it home but I have oh so much to learn and do with a new car! First thing is to re-route the 24' cord on the Grizzl-E EVSE because the charging port on the RAV 4 is on the passenger side rear. Luckily, I think the cord will be long enough where we don't have to back the car in to reach it. That's a project for tomorrow.

Thank you and "aloha" to you too (I'm probably not allowed to say that living in Illinois - LOL). I still love your picture of your Infinite Blue Mach E in front of the ocean with the palm trees and that picture is one of my wallpapers on the iMac. If we had a picture contest on this forum (used to have one on the Thunderbird Forum) I think it would have won. So far I've only driven it home from the dealer. Tomorrow I start learning and setting things up (phone pairing, Home Link, radio stations, yada, yada).

Thank you, I feel the same way obviously. You need to strike while the iron is hot however because I don't know how much longer trade-in prices will be high for a used Mach E especially if word spreads about the battery problems with the HVJB. I've had many people ask about that before I sold the car (they didn't know exactly that the problem was in the high voltage junction boxes but they knew there were problems with the battery that could be serious). Maybe I'm wrong here though because they are in high demand and as hard to find/get as a RAV4 Prime. There were literally four people in line waiting to see if I was going to buy it (I was #1 on the list so I had first dibs). They all left disappointed.

No you are completely right. Car max prices are already dropping. There is a local GTPE near me with 12k miles for $70k! I already accepted an offer at $60k luckily, just waiting to finalize it and get the replacement before I say too much about it. Needless to say the stars aligned and I felt the need to take a deal while I could get it.

Thanks Rick. I've had three hybrids before the BEV Mach E so I'm well aware of the drop in mileage in the winter even just running in hybrid mode. The car takes the excess heat energy from the engine to provide warmth for the cabin. Before that happens though, it can use the battery to produce heat with a heat pump (I think) which will lower the % SOC of it and you can also run the heated steering wheel and heated seats which probably add to the battery drain until the engine warms up. It is a very complicated machine as I have been told over and over on the RAV4 Prime Forum, Toyota Nation and the Toyota dealership and I don't pretend to know everything about how it works yet. I have only had it for a few hours. The overall mileage on the window sticker (and you have to take this with a grain of salt) is 94 MPGe combined city/highway for electricity + gas (0.0 gallons per 100 miles and 36 kW hours per 100 miles) and 38 MPG combined city/highway or 2.6 gallons per 100 miles. Driving range all electric 0 to 44 miles and gas & electric 600 miles. The fuel economy for small SUV.s range from 14 to 129 MPGe. The best vehicle rates 142 MPGe (RAV4 94). All of these figures are in the EPA/DOT box on the sticker. A far cry from the Mach E's 210 mile range I got in warm weather and 30% (or more) drop in that figure in cold weather. Even with the Extended Range battery I get 2X more range; plenty to take a trip without any concern about where the next EVSE might be and if it will work (and knowing that there are literally thousands of gas stations in most states for the car to run in hybrid mode). And the car comes with a 110 volt mobile charger which you can plugin to wherever you go and charge the plug-in battery overnight (like the Mach E). To me this is a much more practical choice even though it is not quite as environmentally favorable as the Mach E is (smog rating 7, best being 10, for the RAV4 Prime).

Thank you for wishing me good luck and I wish you the same for your Premium 4X. I sincerely hope you don't have any of the problems that many on this forum have experienced and being such a small sample size maybe you won't. I wasn't willing to take that crap shoot any longer myself.

I didn't get that much for my car but I did get more than I paid for it originally. Mine was a Job 1 Premium MME AWD Std battery; I don't know your exact specs.

Aw, thank you Susan (love that name as it is the name of my better half ). Like I said, I'll miss the Infinite Blue too as it was (and is) a beautiful color. You're one of those who make this forum great. Best of luck to you also!
