I know a few people have experienced this but it still hurts. I’ve had my ME for three weeks now and just got it back from being wrapped plus a few other things a few days ago. Driving on the 210 carpool lane today in LA a huge rock came up from the car in front of me. SMACK! Huge crack now right on the passenger side windshield. Luckily I wasn’t tailing the car and it didn’t come through. My wife was sleeping in the passenger front seat and it surely would have hit her. It sucks, but it could always be worse. At least no one was hurt. Now to go through the painful process of ordering/paying for a new windshield from Ford as I’m almost positive this isn’t covered under warranty.

I ended up going the SafeLite route since my insurance would cover all the costs there besides deductible. I’m surprised to say they ended up ordering the OEM glass on Monday and told me today they’ll get it in the shop by tomorrow. That means I’ll be able to have it completely replaced and recalibrated during my originally scheduled appointment this coming Monday. Not terrible to only have to wait a week to get it replaced when I expected to wait between 2 weeks to a month. Hopefully everything turns out great with the replacement and recalibration. Fingers crossed

Everything worked out in the end. It took 6 days total from cracked windshield to replacement. SafeLite received the OEM replacement three days after ordering it. They were able to accommodate me and move up my appointment two days for installation. They said the recalibration was very quick and everything went smooth. Overall I’m very happy and it just cost me my comprehensive deductible after they quoted me around $1100.
