My car has been in the body repair shop for almost a week because I had a "collision" between my cargo door and the garage door when the cargo door unexpectedly opened by itself when I was backing out. Yesterday I received a call from the body shop with "good news" and "bad news" as he put it. The new cargo door had arrived but when they installed it, it flipped back so much that it broke the glass on the top of the car. Yikes. The body shop is going to cover the cost of a new top as they should and is now waiting for that part from Ford. I shudder to think how much that must cost but at least I don't have to pay for it.

I know when I wrecked my Mustang on the race track back in 2011. It required about $15,000 worth of damage. The insurance company said you can use OEM parts or you can use Ford performance parts. Ford performance parts of some of the racing wheels and racing upgraded brakes were actually less than the OEM parts. I tried to push my luck because I found out for the first time that the hardtop on a 2011 Mustang is actually a part! So I said how about putting a glass roof up there cause that time they did offer a glass roof on that version of the car. So the shop checked with the insurance company, they wouldn’t let it fly because the glass roof was $4500 option. Speaking of having your car in the shop mine is still in there after 10 days for the software updates because the shop is the only one in town that has an electronic technician that works on hybrid and electric cars so They apologize they’re gonna talk to Ford as well and make sure that I don’t have to pay the rental after 10 days. The first 10 days was on, after that it was $45 a day. I think I’ve decided to buy an ice Mustang as a back up car for the future my neighbors got a 2005 GT that he might let me have it for 5000. I think that’s a pretty good deal.

On a short 3.5 hr trip back from my son's, something hit my windshield...I thought! When I got home the impact was a few inches from the front edge of the moon-roof. A 3 ft. crack is there now. I'm posting some pictures here to paint the picture but I will be posting about the insurance ordeal so far. Tomorrow I'm going to my local Ford dealer as they assured me they will do it...under a claim of course. More to come including cost, etc.

I had my glass roof replaced because of stress cracking. I had to fight for it and go through the BBB appeal process. Ford quoted $1400 to replace it and they finally agreed to pay for all but $200.

Dropped it off at Ford dealership for insurance adjuster to evaluate. Lets see how much this is going to hurt.

Do you have glass coverage on car? If so, you might not have to pay a deductible.

I'm gonna read the clauses tonight. I don't know. I ended up doing the assessment with the App so let's see how it goes.

I took a rock right at the front edge of my roof. Sunday I washed the car in 100+ degrees, but in the shade. I did everything I could to cool that area of the roof before it got a drop of water on it. The black areas of the roof I've seen get up over 180 degrees on a 100 degree day. My roof didn't split but it's something I have to keep in the front of my mind. Even a rain storm blowing through could seal that replacement.

I havn't called State Farm but I do have $0 glass which probably means I get dropped or my rates go up...
