Just curious if anyone else has run into this problem. I have a Yakima Fatcat from my previous car so I installed it on the Thule Evo edge bars. The specific location of the Thule bars make it so the snowboard bindings on both my and my wife’s boards hit right where the rack closes. Does this happen with the Thule ski rack as well?

I have to take the bindings off or throw the boards in the trunk with the seats down which completely defeats the convenience of having the rack.

Looks like you've got enough nose on the board to slide it backwards so that the rear binding is behind the rear clamp. You'll just have more of the board overhanging in the back, so make sure your trunk still clears when you open it.

Can you slide the rear crossbar back a bit?
I’m curious because I have to get some crossbars for my rack.

I tried that, it makes the balance of the board too heavy towards the back and barely clamped on the flat part of the board at the front. Worried what might happen at 80mph plus. It does have enough clearance for the tailgate to open however.

I ended up doing that, had to slide it 9mm backwards. You’re supposed to follow the Thule instructions for the curve of the sloped roof. I’m crossing my fingers it isn’t a safety issue to do this. Maybe I’ll email Thule to see what they say. Online, the FAQs say 70mm is ideal but most crossbars have specific measurements for each car.

i feel like adjusting the bars a few cm should be OK. i did that with the rear ones to accommodate this mattress driving from east side san jose to SF.
