TPMS dropping connection on one tire

Hey everyone,

I've had my 22 GT since mid May and just over a week ago I got a tier pressure monitoring fault on the rear passenger side. It reconnected later but seems to disconnect everyday, typically after 30 minutes of driving. My car has 123,000km on it, and the tires were replaced when I bought the car and it functioned fine at the time so I'm not putting any blame on the dealer.

Is it possible the battery in the tps is dying but has enough juice to give a reading the car first starts?

Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Could be the battery... or just a failing sensor. Mine has been giving me that message since I bought it at 16,000 miles (25,000km). I've got 103,000 miles (165,000km) now. It'll be fine for weeks or a couple of months... then it pops up that message. Sometimes I'll get that message more than once in a single day. I can't make any sense of it. Every time I get new tires, I think about having them replace it... but then I realize that it isn't bothering me that much.

You can get a new TPMS sensor on eBay for about $10. Knowing tire shops, they'll probably charge $50 for the sensor and $100 to install it.

Be aware it will not notity about a non-responding sensor right after starting to drive, it will trigger the warning after 20 minutes of driving and no sensor data yet. On short drives there will be no warning even whe sensor is completely dead, unless you actually can see the pressure reading change.

The sensors go to sleep when the wheel is not spinning and wakes up on motion, so your sensor is completely dead. The sensor battery is replaceable but most of the cost of fixing it is removing the tire, remounting it and rebalancing. It should as far as I know be standard procedure to replace the battery on tire replacement.

You could try do deflate the tire pressure and then inflating it again before replacing it in case it is just "stuck".

I had this same issue occurring with my 23.5 MME, starting from October 2025. After several visits to my dealership, a *lot* of patience on my part and persistence on the part of the service technician and Ford Corporate Technical Support, the problem was ultimately traced to intermittent radio frequency (RF) interference being generated by the Audio Control Module (ACM) currently installed in the vehicle. The interference being generated by the ACM was enough to interrupt the communication between the rear TPMS sensors and the radio antennas that would receive the TPMS readings. Replacement of the faulty ACM was required to resolve the issue and was completed on June 23rd. Since then, no further TPMS Warning Alerts have recurred on my vehicle.

I had same issue with one of my TPMS sensors. my folks at Wheel Works replaced it.

It has been intermittent on my drivers side rear tire. No connection then a few minutes it goes away. A few times more than once a day others weeks or so with no notice. No idea why.

As stated, there are two common causes of intermittent TPMS issues:

1. The battery in the TPMS sensor is failing.
2. There is excessive RF interference in the 315/433 MHz band, either from a dashcam or 3rd party power supply, or from the ACM in some cases.
