I'm putting together a full size spare tire to carry on trips. Would there be any issue of having the TPMS sensor remaining in place, or just replace with standard valve stem. The wheel is a stock CR1 with the sensor installed.

It won’t harm anything if it is there and you need to use the spare. Your tire light will be on until you reprogram the sensors

No reprogramming is needed, just drive.

That is not a bad idea. Where are you going to keep the spare? How are you going to keep it from bouncing around -- especially if you are in an accident. That is a lot of weight to be flying around.

Planned on strapping down from the D-ring to the tie down on rear seat back, I doubt these are load rated for any type of crash/accident but should keep from bouncing around in the trunk area.

Just like with any car though you need to make sure the spare tire if it just sits in there, it does not get below the pressure which is sometimes 25 pounds or less it will set off the sensor took me a while to figure that out first time that happened why is that happening? All my tires were fine.
