Tracking Orders for Dummies

I ordered our MME on 2/22 and last month received a production week of 5/23 and I've subsequently been "tracking" my order on the website. I did manage to get my VIN by following the instructions to extract it from the info Ford site, but when I put that into the Mach-E Tracker Tool, for the past two weeks it has been telling me that it can't retrieve the VIN...so question #1: is that normal at this stage?

I also see another tool mentioned, namely the Ford Mach-E Reservation Details Viewer. When I go to that site, it asks for my VIN and an order #, but apparently this order # is not the 8-digit one I have on the Ford website, but instead is a double secret, super-probation four-digit number. So here's question #2: where/how do I find the shorter order number?

But perhaps my most important question is #3, which is: just what tools for tracking should I be using now and what should I be ignoring? And maybe I'm just expecting to see more info than actually exists at this stage of the process. The reason I'm being a tad obsessive about this is that I ordered Infinite Blue and I'm keenly interested in my order remaining Infinite Blue, so just trying to keep my eye on the ball.

#1 Yes, that's normal.
#2 The 4 digit order number is found on the window sticker. Consensus is that you should be able to see your sticker about a week before your scheduled production week.
#3 At this point you are at the wait patiently stage. There is nothing to be done.
I also have an IB scheduled for production. I keep telling myself that there is nothing to worry about since they wouldn't have scheduled it if they didn't have the paint. My opinion is they have enough IB and CG for all of the scheduled MMEs. If you don't have a production week, I think you're SOL. But you and I do not fall into that category. ?

I hope you are right about the IB\CG colors! I just find it hard to believe that Ford would make a color change and not even notify their customers with orders in process!!

#1 Yes, that's normal.
#2 The 4 digit order number is found on the window sticker. Consensus is that you should be able to see your sticker about a week before your scheduled production week.

I was wondering the same thing about Ford producing my Mach E in Infinite Blue as my wife really wants that color. For us it's a moot point now as we found an Infinite Blue Mach E and bought it. Still, I am wondering what will happen with the order I am canceling. When I go on Ford's Order Tracking site they don't list a Build Week so I think Ford would have produced my car in a different color and that would have broken her heart. I'm still following the progress of my original order just to see where it goes from here and whether we would have been "SOL" as you so eloquently put it. The salesman at the dealer where we originally ordered the car told me he thought the week of May 24th but there is nothing from Ford to me backing this up. I'm just curious at this point but very relieved that we don't have to worry about it anymore. ?

On question 2, I got my four digit order number from my dealer. Works on the site that asks for the VIN and an order # but, unfortunately, not any additional information on that site.

Thanks all for the replies. Re searching, this was one of those times that the more information I read, the more confused I started getting. But these responses helped put things in context.

BMT1071--hope you're right about the colors for orders with assigned production dates.
