So not sure if this is more generalized but I have been noticing that my odometer is going up faster than I anticipated, based on my previous cars usage. I told myself it might just be because we love driving the MME and that since it's cheaper than buying gas, we've been using it more than the F150.

But then yesterday on a Quebec MME Facebook page someone posted something in that regard, and last night I got this

Ford Mustang Mach-E Trip Distance Error (Odometer as well?) 20211005_201735_HDR

52.6km driven in 18minutes.... that would mean I drove at about 170km/h (while only using 14.0kWh/100km wow that's amazing). No but seriously, that trip was only 16km, why did the trip display 52.6km!!!

I will keep an eye on the trip calculator and the odometer to see if this happens often and if when the trip is inaccurate my odometer also displays an inaccurate addition of km!!! Wouldn't want to hit end of warranty quicker because the odometer adds kms too quickly! As well as repercussions on car insurance etc...

And here's what the other individual reported on Facebook
Ford Mustang Mach-E Trip Distance Error (Odometer as well?) 1633521192822

In her case, that distance and time implies she was driving at about 165km/h

Anyone else noticed something similar?

I had a similar experience a few weeks ago. I had just finished a trip to someones house, then got back in the car a few minutes later and headed back home. The trip there was about 27 miles (48 min travel time) each way, and I'd been driving back for about 20 minutes at the time. So it looks like the trip computer reset my time, but not my distance traveled for the trip. I did stop and turn off the car for about 5 minutes inbetween drives.

The trip computer does weird things on mine too. Sometimes it resets and sometimes it only resets partially meaning it only resets the kWh and not the miles. Another odd thing is it will show better mi/kwh the harder I drive the car!

Good morning. Would you please send us a private message with your VIN and mileage so we can look into the odometer issue for you? I'd love to help you sort this out so you can get back to driving your Mach E carefree!

I have this happen all the time. Seems to be a bug. Personally, I would rather have some logic that resets the "This Trip" odometer when at home, and keep it rolling until I return home. This odometer seems to default to a single leg of a trip, but does that intermittently.

My Bolt has a better feature in that it records miles, kWh used, and mile/kWh average since last full charge (to my set target, not necessarily 100%). This is independent of the trip odometer.

Ideally, the user should have control of this, such as these selectable options:

- Reset this trip when charge completed
- Reset this trip when at home
- Reset this trip when car is turned off, then back on

Current logic is; reset when Ford randomly decides to do so, but usually when car is turned on.

This reminds me the story back years ago about Honda deliberately made their odometers roll faster so the their cars would be out of warranty quicker.

I've also seen this happen. I thought it might be by design, that is, the trip wouldn't reset unless the car was off for a period of time, as I first noticed when I'd be making a quick to the store. It didn't reset when I came back to the car after shopping but reset later after the car had been off for a while.

Checking the odometer is something that I always do when I get a new vehicle. I am not sure about Canada, but it is pretty easy to do in the states because we have mile marker signs planted every mile. They are pretty accurate. The few times I have checked my car it has been accurate as near as I can tell.

Ford pass calculates each trip mile/kwh. It makes sense to reset last trip when you turn the car on to hit the road. If you stop long enough between trips it thinks you complete a trip, so it’s ready to reset the mileage and starts a new counting when you start the car again.

That’s what I think it’s doing.

I noticed I backed out my garage a few times just to move it out of the way, the pass said I had driven a mile or something. But it’s actually a few hundred feet. That’s understandable bc it goes by miles not by feet.

The “This Trip” odometer randomly doesn’t reset mileage. There are days when I drive to and from work and get the expected 10.4-10.5 miles on the trip odometer for each leg. There are also days when I get the expected number of miles for the trip to work but get home with 21 miles on the “This Trip” readout. It’s not a matter of time, since 9 or so hours elapse between the time I arrive at work and the time I leave work for each of these event pairs. ??

There's no way I've driven as far as my odometer is saying I have in a year and I notice my trip meter often is WRONG. For instance my commute to work is about 24 miles. Somedays my trip home is counted as 48. This has happened on longer drives as well. I've never driven this many miles in a year and especially without taking road trips. I'm about ready to sit down with a calculator and count my mileage by hand.

The This Trip meter is supposed to reset to a new trip if the car is off for a certain period of time. There was/is a bug where it would not reset automatically. So, if your trip meter didn't reset from the 24 miles going to work, then the additional 24 miles in your return trip would be added and displayed as 48.

I saw this periodically in the past, but I think one of the OTAs fixed it for me several months ago.
