So this is supposed to be a utility vehicle. Yet, the platform in the trunk is supported by two plastic clips up towards the back seats. That is the only thing supporting platform on the side closest to the back seats.

Apparently, I was unaware of a "lower position" for the back trunk platform. Why is this a thing? All they had to do was create a lip in the upholstery mold like every other SUV I've ever seen to support that platform...

Well those plastic clips snapped on me when I went over a bump while hauling some concrete stones in the back. Yes it was a heavy load, but nothing close to the limit. It covered the back area left to right but was maybe 12" high of concrete. I'm sure someone is going to do the math tell me "that was over the vehicles load weight." I don't buy it. The trunk should be able to handle weight within the vehicles max cargo weight of 950

And I'm thinking, okay NBD. It's just a plastic clip, I'm sure Ford has that part in stock that can be replaced and all will be well.

Nope

That part is attached to the interior rear quarter panel of upholstery and not serviced individually.

Lovely

Now I'm off to try to find a wrecked car I can take them out of....

Yes, well documented here. And the max cargo weight of the vehicle is after it left the factory. If you added things like mats, or other things, that comes off it. Plus, your weight and your passengers. But that's not why they broke, they broke because your floor wasn't in the lower position as you discovered.

Wish I would have come across those before. Wasn't the first time I hauled something heavy back there either...

The Ford interior protection optional rear mat only fits properly when the floor is in the lowest position. That should have clued you in if you have those (and most do). Otherwise, it’s an unfortunate and unexpected lesson.

Yeah, if you had a trunk full of concrete stones that's probably like 900 pounds. However you cannot put the entire max load in one spot on the vehicle because it will overload the rear axle. I've made this recommendation before, but the max load with the floor in the upper position is about 150 pounds so the supports don't snap. Which might only be 2-3 stones. In the lower position, the max load in the trunk is about 300-350 pounds so the rear axle isn't overloaded.

If you are hauling more than 350 pounds of cargo, it needs to be distributed throughout the entire vehicle in the footwells and on the seats so you don't overload axles or structures.

The Mach-E is not a pickup truck.
