Maybe I am not being age appropriate. I have 23 GT Rapid Red and love this car. I’ll be having the front windows tinted to match the rear.
What I was thinking of is getting some fun neon type light bars for underneath. Maybe I’m going thru a midlife crisis ?.
Anyone done this type of modification? (Light bars underneath)

I appreciate any feedback

I haven’t done the mod, but I would assume it’s no different than doing it for any other car, aside from making sure you’re not mounting anything to the HV battery case. You could maybe get one of those multi color setups so you can go green for Christmas (red & green), orange for Halloween, and maybe yellow/gold for Chinese New Year. ??

Too funny I was just thinking I may IM you directly. You’ve always been so knowledgeable. Rainbow for Pride ?️‍?

I’m not mechanically inclined so I’d look into having it done professionally

I have 3 kits in the garage. I had one on my SXS and used it once. I can't bring myself to install any of the 3 I have though. I even got one for the inside and realized it'd just be a toy for my kid to constantly mess with.

As for the cops. Provided you're stopped they wont nail you. But if you're moving or on a street you'll get a warning.

Oddly it used to be TOTALLY illegal to have red and blue lights on a vehicle due to impersonation. But now every construction car has been blinking red and blue. I forget to ask my LEO buddy about it.

Huntingpudle had a point about the battery. One slip and it could be costly

Sounds like a fun idea! Feel free to share some pictures if you get them installed.

There's a LOT of room on the sides, just don't put it where the jack pads go., Most of these mount with tiny screws or double sided tape. The front is where it's hard because the underliners are flush from the battery to the bumpers. It's super easy to mount to the underliners, but they're felt. so one wrong carboard box getting run over and it might rip the light off.
That said i REALLY wish I could put some Baja Design laser lights in the bumper. It'd help in the mountains. I turned off the auto ramping headlights because the signs a 1/2 mile down the road would appear and disappear.

I wish we could just have a fun light show option like Teslas. Honestly one of the only fun things I think I like about them. ? otherwise you’d only have fun with the under lighting while parked somewhere cause you will almost certainly get pulled over. ? (spouse is former WSP)

My enterprising kid fixed that. When we go to car shows and the Teslas do a light show, he does a manual one by triggering the high beams and turn signals.

I bought a nice kit from Govee and had started working on the electrical (removed the interior frunk panels, assessing how and where to connect the leads, etc.) and decided to take a break and have lunch. For the heck of it, I decided to see if there are any laws in California regarding underglow lighting. Came back to the car, put everything back and returned the kit. Too regulated to use properly here in CA. If your have a show car and like to take it to conventions would be cool. But operating them out in the wild, you're gonna get pulled over. So I would check the laws in your state and decide if it's worth all the trouble.
