Dealership was AutoNation Bellevue. Given the popularity of EVs in the Puget Sound area, I would hope they'd have some experience with battery packs. Still no word back from GEICO; waiting on manager approval.
Wow, I have heard nothing good about autonation.

Yeah - I heard a lot of good things about AutoNation Collusion Center and generally, they've been good to work with. But they sent the car to AutoNation Ford to get the battery checked out.

Wow. Sorry about that.
Thanks, much appreciated. If anyone gets a lead on a Premium AWD Extended Range Mach-E on a lot somewhere west of the Rockies, let me know.

That I did. I'd make sure that the insurance company sues his butt off.
Having been in 2 accidents that led to surgeries due to injuries and both from people who ran red lights, I can tell you that the insurance company is not your friend here.

Hire a lawyer. Simple as that and keep in mind that they are your friend only in that you are hiring a friend. Your insurance company is there doing what they do to protect their own interests and minimize what they have to pay out. The other party despite not having insurance still has liability. The lawyer is the only one who will look after your interests and tell you the truth in this situation.

In my first accident, I had a global cement company truck running 70 mph in a 40 zone blow a red light. The trailer pulling the steamroller swung around and hit my passenger wheel spinning my car twice and shearing the engine off the transmission. I put my left shoulder out the back of the joint and dislocated my right hip. The other driver was trying to fix his trailer to get to the job site when the state patrol showed up. They were self-insured and it took a lawyer to get them to pay for the car, my surgery and the damages. I do wish I had hired a better lawyer.

The second was when I was driving from a customer to my company campus and had someone here illegally with a fake ID blow a red light. That totaled a rental car and tore my right shoulder up where the biceps tendon was not saveable. I got tagged for $28K by Avis on my company credit card. When my boss asked me how I was going to pay this, I hired the second lawyer. He was better.

In both cases, insurance companies really, really tried to screw me. If it weren't for the lawyers I would have been up the creek. Do not waste your time dealing with this yourself. The insurance company will use what you say and do to screw you over. It is unfortunate, but that is reality.

@EELinneman is right. Insurance companies are only looking out for their investments, not their investors (aka insurance policy holders). When I was in college, one of my best friends had a father who was a pretty high up guy in a pretty big international insurance comany. After the guy retired, he had all sorts of stories that he got ulcers from about how the company screwed its customers.

Ah, ok - the issues I heard about was Autonation Ford, people's buying experiences. I'm sorry to hear about all you are being put through. A lawyer does sound like a good idea. I still feel my tailbone pain now and then after a motorcycle accident in the 70s, I got a $5k settlement, I wish I had gotten a lawyer.

Thing is a lot of people don't realize, depending on the case, a lot of the time it cost you absolutely nothing. If you are at fault, then expect to pay $$$$$ lol But if you are not at fault most lawyers will take the case cause its easy money for them. They just factor their pay when they go after the insurance companies. My one accident was a little over a $50,000 settlement. That settlement had all my doctor bills in it, specialist, MRI's, car rental, lost wages, the whole deal. I paid nothing out of pocket during the 16 month recovery time. All my doctors were referred by the lawyer's office, never touched my medical insurance for anything. I got $18,000 of the settlement, rest went to paying those bills and the lawyer. I was 100% fine with that.

In case this was keeping you up at night - car is still at AutoNation Collision Center as GEICO doesn't agree with the "total loss" claim from AutoNation Ford. Another week and the car hasn't moved. Getting it towed to Service King Bellevue now as they claim they can get it on the rack so they can at least look at the undercarriage and battery pack.

But as Service King doesn't deal with any of the internal systems, I'm not sure how we're going to diagnosis any damage outside of a visual inspection?

What a mess.

Final update - GEICO called the car a total loss and actually gave me a pretty generous settlement. I'm out my deductible and about $150 in car rentals. Flying to Denver on Thursday to pick up a slightly used Grabber Blue FE and drive it back.

That process took entirely too long.

Yep. My assessment, a combination of lack of urgency from GEICO and AutoNation. Once it got to ServiceKing, things moved fast. Also, I finally found a good agent at GEICO that understood my plight and moved really fast to get the claims processed.
