Hello just received a new update which now has added the YouTube app to entertainment section

Does anyone know of a way to remove the restriction whilst driving which blocks all entertainment apps?

Back in the days of the double DIN head units you would just take out the head, cut the ground wire, then take the ground and screw it to the back of the head unit (loop the ground), put it all back and presto it always thought you were in park all the time!

"whilst".......Wow, they are really upgrading their communication techs. I feel like the guy that wrote this must have been from England or at minimum our Ivy league. This guy should probably be working for Cadillac or Mercedes. :cwl:

No, you can’t for legal reasons.

Let me be the first to assume that you’re asking for your passengers and your eyes will be on the road.

The streaming is to give you something to do while your car charges.

Understand it’s designed for legal reasons
But have had previous cars where the lock can be deactivated, as you have mentioned for passengers.

Activate the car’s hotspot so passengers can use their personal devices to access youtube etc. while you drive.

I've often wondered why someone would pay for that Hotspot when passengers can use cell service, which is where the Hotspot service comes from. Why not just activate Hotspot on your phone?

Certainly right about that. Though I’ve found that the car’s cell antenna is far superior to the one in my phone.

There are cars out there already that have passenger media screens. Porsche and Jeep Grand Wagoneer come to mind, however they go to painfully extreme lengths to make sure only the passenger can physically view it. Even disabling the software lock wouldn’t work on those.

Additionally, Iā€˜m not aware of any way to disable a lock like on the MachE with a more unified module architecture. You can’t just isolate the module used for streaming, you’d have to trick the entire computer. That would cause all sorts of problems.

I'm surprised you are asking this question in the first place?

Even if the driving restriction could be deactivated and a "passenger" was looking at it rather than you the distraction would be overwhelming. I think the police and your insurance company would be interested in your excuse for having a crash. Your car insurance would be invalidated. "But officer, I was distracted by the YouTube video of car crashes when the tree walked out into the road and hit me". Plus imagine the liability and lawsuits for Ford if YouTube could play whilst driving.
