if you're VW and you're trying to make sure people know you're serious, this is a way to do it I guess. certainly works well as far as "everything can still be branded 'VW'".

I don't, I think they're worthy of more praise that any established automaker. I really do find it hard to see why they deserve scorn, they're farther ahead on the ICE to EV transition than anyone.
