my mach-e order was accepted by the dealer on 1/31/2022. What should be the amount of wait time for my order to get to the next step "Scheduled For Production"?
just curious for 2022....
and yes, I did look at the 2021 threads... and the general consensus is "long wait". I'm trying to time my purchase with my current lease return during the summer 2022.

It really depends on the supply chain.
I think I waited 2 months. But right now they aren't even scheduling Machs so it could be a while longer. Most of the ones they are building now are just sitting waiting to be finished.

I ordered last September and hope to see a "Scheduled for Production" maybe by the end of the month. - if that gives you any indicator.

I think 6-7 months for scheduled for production? And then maybe 2-3 more months after that? I hope your lease ends in Sept and not in July ;)

Rumors are they are suspending orders on the 11th as all the 2022’s are spoken for. You could be waiting a full year for the car, and not see scheduled for production for 6+ months.

It will depend on many factors which unfortunately you do not control. It appears to me that model, color, options, allocation and just pure luck/timing factor in. Not to mention the dreaded chip shortages. I ordered a 2022 in October, scheduled for Production Jan 24, went into production Jan 17, built 31st and shipped Feb 7th. Why it went this smoothly I have no idea. My expectation was 28+ weeks. I do think because mine might have been one of the first of few 2022 models that were ordered for Alaska that my priority was high due to dealer allocation. If you start out with the 28+ week expectation (or whatever it is now) then Ford would most likely meet or beat your expectations.

Based on what I've seen people saying, what matters most is what trim you ordered. It seems for the 2022 orders, California Route 1 and GT models were scheduled pretty quickly - for production within two months of ordering. Premium, particularly extended range (ER) and dual-motor (AWD) is the most popular order, and seems to be having the longest wait times. There were some rumors that this was also partly due to shortages of various components.

Overall, it's a bit difficult to predict right now, and there are a lot of variables influencing the wait times by model, and that would influence it for you specifically.

I think this is the best answer so far, seems to be an accurate assessment. The only wild card in this is the volatile chip situation, which is an on-again-off-again problem. We have seen chips ramp up and look like they are getting back on track again only to dive into more delays . . . tough industry!

And yet, nobody knows!

I saw recently someone who ordered in December, scheduled in January for March delivery.

When I first started trying to follow VIN assignments on this forum's database and a variety of threads, I guesstimated my own "build" date/VIN would likely come around March 28, 16 weeks from order date. Now, it seems there are folks who ordered in summer of 2021 who still have no VIN/build date. But there are a few who ordered 2022MY in Nov/Dec who have build dates. The database has poor participation and belated entries to form much opinion about the answer to your question: "how long between order date and build date". The attached file is a list of all 2022MY VIN entered in this database arranged by first "estimated build date". Most folks don't know what their estimated build date would be and most don't remember to enter an "actual build date" once they get a VIN. You'd have to read all the threads and individual comments where folks describe their chronology.
With "suspension" of MME production, I'm assuming my "estimated build date" is being pushed out farther for every week the plant is not scheduling (assigning VINs and build dates). Ford's allocation algorithm also confuses the issue, since they apparently divide production between by batches between US-Europe-Canada, ZEV states within US, and "high volume" dealers. We only know about some of the US-destined VINs.
Talked to a Ford dealer today that advertised 19 MME that were neither on the lot nor completed., AND probably special orders not actually for sale. He said I should just hang onto my order filed 2 months ago as the best bet. I asked if he knew the Cuautitlan plant had "suspended" production (2-7-22) of the MME due to microchip shortage. He said "no" and he also didn't know how long this plant shutdown would persist or further delay MME delivery.
Two theories about the MME assembly suspension persist: 1) assembly suspension is for 1 week, just to clear the "built but not completed" MME that can't be delivered and are clogging storage lots; or 2) it's for 3 months or more, due to severe and ongoing microchip insufficiency, pushing delivery dates out 3 months or more. We must wait and see. (Fordauthority.com says the MME assembly will resume 2-14-22, for whatever that is worth.)
Other "news" on this forum is that Ford will cease taking reservations/orders for the MME on 11 Feb 22. Clearly, the demand has been there. Ford's ability to supply them has been retarded but actual numbers are hard to come by. They could turn it all around, by assuring sufficient microchips and doubling production at the currently shut down assembly plant.
ps When Ford announces its monthly MME production numbers, they don't say how many are actually undeliverable due to missing parts/microchips (i.e. >6K built in Jan 22, <3K for US market, but ?,000 are waiting for chips in storage lots.)

Today my car was "Scheduled for Production" Week of 7/18/22. I ordered it on 11/08/21. That is 32 weeks from the order date to beginning production.
