I recently opened the back hatch / rear door of my 2022 Mach-E GT and found water flowing out of the handle and light area. This is water getting inside the rear door panel. I'm guessing this might be a door or window seal problem.

Has anyone had this issue before and what was your resolution / cost to fix the problem.

Is it like this?

Water intrusion in rear hatch

It took 2 tries for my dealer to fix it. The first time they replaced the hatch light clusters. The second time they put some sealant round where the light clusters attach to. I now get excess water droplets within the left light cluster which they said is "normal" and showed me some Ford literature which basically said it's got to be half filled with sloshing water before they will do anything. This was all under warranty although now out of warranty still with the water droplets inside the cluster.

I've not taken it back as I just can't be bothered anymore (plus the cost) so due to other numerous issues this may be my first and last Ford car.

There is a TSB these days and the dealer should take care of it for free. Mine was solved a year ago. It’s documented somewhere here on this site.

Dropped off my 2022 MachE GTPE at the dealership on Tuesday 3.25.25, thanks to everyone that shared the problem and for the Technical Services Bulletin that shows the fix for this problem. Unfortunately my car is just beyond the warranty with 42k miles, and I was hoping that @Ford would fix this clear manufacturing defect.

Gotta figure out the best way to contact Ford Corporation to ask them to cover the relatively minor repair.

Just for easy reference. My dealer confirmed via water test, that the problem I was having is a known problem with the 2021-2023 model year MachE’s. TSB 23-2360

Mahalo’s for everyone’s help in researching this fix. Now I guess will see how much this will cost me out of warranty at only 42,000 miles…
