weird BlueCruise issues

I have new, weird issues with BlueCruise on our 2022 Ford MachE:

• BlueCruise is now very slow to activate even in ideal weather conditions on the highway.
• Once it does activate, within a few minutes, I get a Watch the Road! alert (even as I am steadily watching the road) and then, in less than a minute, that alert converts to a Resume Control! alert and then the car jerks repeatedly as if brakes are being applied.

I have experienced this sequence every time I have tried to activate BlueCruise over the past few days (x 6).

Further, the BkueCrusie speed limit display (in the white rectangle labeled Speed Limit on the right side of the interface) is often wonky. I can be on the highway having just passed a speed limit sign reading 70 and the BlueCruise interface speed limit will read 35.

Does anyone have any idea about what gremlin is causing this?

- Not sure about the activation issue
- This means that the sensor is not able to detect your eyes. Are you wearing sunglasses? I have a pair that do not work with the sensors so I have a separate pair that is not as strong that allow it to detect correctly.
- Speed limit detection is a known issue. It is not accurate a lot of the time as it can be tricked by signs near by. Example: truck speed limit is 55 and standard is 65. Whatever one is later is the one that gets displayed.

It means the camera above the steering wheel hub can't see your eyeballs clearly. Something is blocking it. Your arm or your glasses are the usual suspects.

The jerking is the car emphatically telling you to put your hands on the steering wheel.

I turned off the option to have the car set the speed by reading the speed limit signs, as the first day I tried using it the car upped the speed to 88 miles an hour. I later figured out that it was reacting to a sign pointing to an exit to highway 88. Others have reported their cars suddenly braking on the freeway as the car mistook other signs as speed signs. IMHO Ford should remove this "feature" until it is more reliable. I guess that they have forgotten about the Pinto debacle.

As others have said above, something, such as sunglasses may be interfering with the cameras ability to make sure your eyes are on the road.

In more highway driving today, I realized that my seat adjustment was too low, and raising my seat height eliminated the constant Watch the Road! alerts. Maybe my automatic seat adjustment setting was somehow eliminated during my recent service appointment, so after leaving the dealership, I was positioned too low for the camera to detect my eyes. .

You may have just passed an exit ramp with a 35 mph speed. This is a known problem with the speed sign recognition system. There are multiple threads discussing this issue.

FYI the angle of the steering wheel also adjusts, so you should play with that angle as well. The steering wheel should be pointed at your shoulders.

During service, they will move the seat and steering wheel angle so you might have to put those back.
