Drove to a provincial power authority fast charger today. Plugged car in and started charging. When at 80% I stopped the charge but then could not release the plug. Nothing I did worked. Finally got it out and then car wouldn’t recognize my phone as a key. I had to use the password and the car was acting very funny. What the F happened here?

Having just finished a 1,000 mile trip and using Tesla chargers every stop, (per Google Maps directions), I too had a couple of instances where the cable did not release right away. A few times it did, however. I was also watching for receipts on my phone and surmised the release was delayed until I got the receipt, so figured that Tesla is not going to let go of your car until they confirm through Ford that you have paid your bill. The internet speed of your charger may play a big part in the transaction. Makes sense to me...

DC Charge Cable Won't Unlock - What to Do

You may have had a glitch with PAAK that prevented unlocking, use the manual button to unlock the doors and charge port instead. Reboot your phone.
I think Mach-Lee hit the nail on the head. PaaK probably failed before you stopped charging and that failure is why it wouldn't let you unplug.

LIES AND BLASHPHEMY!!! If only. I'm one of the folks that just resumed carrying my fob. I still use PaaK for walk away locks and for opening the frunk but I always have the fob on me.
