A couple of days agon I received notification of a Customer Satisfaction Program for my vehicle. Some of these indicate dire consequences if they are not performed. They then tell you how to perform them. I went out to update and found that I had auto update scheduled and in fact there was an update in progress.
So I went back today to see how things went and it said I had successfully installed 5.1.1. What it didn't say was if Customer Satisfaction Program 23B50 had been installed. I see no way of looking at the history of updates and so you never know what has been installed except the last one. So I called and had very pleasant employees answer but it took three of them to discover that there is apparently no way to know what is updated on your car. Maybe there is and maybe there isn't but i suggest the Ford put up a web site that you can go to and enter your vin and get a nicely formatted list of the updates and their purpose and if they have been installed or not. All that data must be readily available. Now I sit back and wait for all the people to tell me to read the manual or that it is right there!

I took my 4XP into the shop a week or so ago due to brake system error messages and while there they installed the CSP. It took more than a full day of updating to bring all the modules up to spec, I have a very early Job 2 model. I'm not sure if it was coincidence, or a result of the CSP, but two days later the 5.1.1 OTA uploaed.

Just an FYI, if an OTA update completes a recall or CSP they will usually mention that in the release notes. Also it usually takes a while before they come out OTA if they come at all.
