Hi,
When do we get Window sticker ? and how do we track that ?
I have build scheduled for next week.
Does anyone have a sense of how long it takes to finish production from the time the window sticker is issued? My production date was 5/31 and I got the window sticker 2 days before. No new info in the vehicle tracker and the ford site still shows the odd scheduled production date of 1/31/21. The scheduled production was week of 5/31 until about a week earlier when it mysteriously changed to 1/31.
Since the early days this year, it's been a moving target, but a couple things are the *ideal* scenario (you can search for all these old threads):

  • Your window sticker will show up a few days, usually 3-4 days, before your scheduled production date
  • From your production date, expect 3 weeks up to a month for it to move to "Produced" status
  • From there, it is approximately 1 additional month to ship to your location, depending on your location in the US. More if you're not on the mainland or if it's going to Europe, Hawaii, or Alaska.

I ordered early Feb, was send a production week of May 24 in mid-April. A week after that my window sticker was available. On May 27 I received an email that the car was built, May 28th an email the car had shipped, and was provided an estimated delivery date of late June. LAst Saturday I received another email on next steps to prepare for the car. The next steps, in my opinion, should have mentioned something about financing but nope; just setting up the app.

I did not receive any email from Ford recently. Before my build date was showing 05/30. Now in Ford website it shows 01/31.

Do you think it will be produced on 1/31 of this year?

Mine shows 1/7/2021 (5 months ago) for the last 10 days or so. Crazy they still didn't fix that. I called them to check on when it was being built they moved it from 6/6 to 6/12. you can call them give the last 8 digits of your vin# and get the new date. (833) 385-0523

Early on, as @ChasingCoral said, the stickers were appearing much earlier, as the car's order was queued up at the factory I think. As things have progressed though, the windows stickers have been appearing closer to the scheduled build week.

The produced status on the Ford websites only gets its tick mark when the car is shipped. If you want to know the actual "out the door" date, before that time, you'll need to check one of the trackers here that can glean the information. Or get it from your dealer and Vehicle Viz report.

Shipping: varies a lot. Shipping to Hawaii is about 9 to 10 weeks. Active shipping to Socal from the plant can be as short as 3 weeks total but real time can also be a fair bit longer depending upon the availability of autoracks and car transports. Shipping to the EU is just as long as Hawaii for the actual in-transit time, but the customs clearance process adds quite a bit to that.

Where do you track this?
Car tracking isn't FedEx or UPS (unfortunately). It's more akin to voodoo or studying things just beyond the event horizon of black holes.

Your best bet is to get Vehicle Vizibility reports from your dealer.

Barring that, use some of the trackers here to find out when your car ships from the factory (mine waited 15 days before it shipped). Add 2 weeks to that actual shipping date. That will give you an approximate (very approximate) for when the car might arrive at the KCS depot in Kansas City. After that, you can check Palsapp for when it is transferred to a westbound railroad train station. Beware though, shipping times from Mexico to Kansas City vary greatly, truck availability to move between railroad depots varies greatly, and palsapp.com really lags real-time. Use it at your own mental peril.

Once you see the transfer date from Kansas city to another railroad's westbound yard you'll know the westbound shipment is getting closer. Once it's on Union Pacific headed west though, it's in an information black hole until it arrives at a transfer station near you (possibly down in Richmond CA, but also quite possibly much nearer to you).

Total active transit time to SoCal (I don't know about Sacramento, but I don't think its be substantially longer or shorter) is around 3 to 4 weeks. But there will be a lot of sitting and waiting for trains, and early on there were also various quality checks that slowed things down.

The reason this is so convoluted is that each railroad has its own tracks and yards, unlike airports. Thus, quite often a trucking company such as Jack Cooper need to move the cars between those various yards. That adds another player to the game. That's where Palsapp comes in. Also, while this is slated to be your car, we are not a party to any of these transactions and thus, the information you can find is extremely limited.

Ask your dealer for the Vehicle Visibility reports periodically. far easier.

C'mon, it's more like reading tea leaves or animal entrails. ??

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I noticed that my window sticker initially appeared on 5/29 and had a 5/29/21 date stamp at the bottom of the page. It stayed that way until a few hours after I got my "Your Mach E has been built" email from Ford. At that point, the date stamp changed to 6/5/21, which matches the actual day it was finished. Are there any other changes to the Window Sticker? I didn't think to download the first version, so I can't compare.

My production week was 5/24.
The sticker was available 5/22.
The build date was 5/31. The build date is the day the build is completed.
The ship date was 6/1.
The ship estimate is 38 days. Disappointing since in 2013 the actual ship time was 14 days.
