The Supercharger system was never intended to be open to vehicles other than Tesla. There was no reason to have any other setup than for a left rear plug in.
Are you sure?

Yeah, and a Tesla will be able to drive across the country with no input from the driver by the end of 2017 2018 2019 2020 2021 2022 2023 2024.

You won't take up 3. At most you'll take 2. When you pull straight into the parking spot, you're obviously going to take the charger you're using, but bc you'll need to park one spot over from the charger you're using, you'll end up taking the spot that another Tesla would use. I went by a Supercharger yesterday to test this theory and that's exactly what I had to do.
I wonder if painting the lines diagonally to the chargers would help? Sort of an " / " angle or similar may be enough for the plug to reach the charge port.

Diagonally designed supercharger parking would help non-Teslas.

"Go and tell your master that if he will give us food and shelter for the night, he can join us in our quest for the Holy Grail Tesla Charging Adapter." :p
Well, I'll ask him, but I don't think he will be very keen. Uh, he's already got one, you see.

What @ChasingCoral said.

The problem in the past with adopting the Tesla DC charging system (Now NACS) were the rather large number of conditions Tesla put forth as the price for adopting it. It became an open standard only when NEVI threatened to bypass it. Fortunately for all you mainlanders, more thoughtful people prevailed at T. Things are a wee bit different here.

Yeah, that was an interesting interview with Jim Farley where he said early on they asked Tesla if they could use their charge port/connector and they refused but then a few years later gov money became available if it supported more than Tesla vehicles and Ford went back to Tesla and they opened up to get the money.

Personally, I'd prefer that Tesla would just deploy the Magic Docks all around their infrastructure. In that way I don't have to buy or carry anything around, and all Tesla public charging infrastructure remains under one domain.
Disclaimer: I have no hope of that ever happening on a large scale, however.

Tesla has never been against getting as much Federal grant money as it can. Its entire existence has depended on it.

I completely didn't understand why Tesla would make the MagicDock for each station when they could sell every CCS EV owner an adapter. It seemed like an obvious missed opportunity for revenue for Tesla.

It's like shaving razor companies. They make more money selling the blades vs. the razors. Tesla makes more selling electricity vs. an adapter. Yeah, they could do both and may end up doing so in the end.

When will these elusive adapters be ready from Ford or Tesla. Yes, I'm aware of a 3rd party one already available. I would prefer one made by TESLA since it is their proprietary software/hardware. February is now less than 5 weeks away o_O!!! As we have all seen the video this week of a local gov't commission speaking the the Tesla Employee stating Ford and GM will be "on-line" come February 2024. Well, we need adapters for this!!!! And Cat Guy from Hawaii, I'm already ready for your "Soon Tm" response. ???

February 2024.
