While Navigation is on i cannot control the radio volume

Does anyone know how you can change this without stopping your navigation route.

Do you mean navigation from your phone, CarPlay/AA? Or vehicle Nav?

If vehicle nav, I have no idea. That shouldn't happen. But if it's CarPlay or AA, that has happened a few times before when the app developers introduce a bug where it continues to send that it's playing prompt audio to the vehicle but it isn't. The biggest offender for this had been Waze, and it was really annoying. As soon as you force closed it it would resolve. I haven't seen it in a while though.

If it is app based, you just have to wait for an update. If it's the vehicle nav though as noted I can't say, I don't have that issue on either Ford vehicle.

Wait until the navigation stops talking, then you should be able to adjust the regular volume instead of the prompt volume. If you are only able to adjust the prompt volume even when the navigation isn't speaking, then you have a glitch and should try the SYNC reboot trick.

or hit the mute button on prompts and your radio volume should work.

Yes it is the prompt volume even when not speaking. I even tried pulling the negative off the car battery to reset. I will ask dealership as it is going in for a recall appt soon. Thanks!

This happens to me all the time, what i do is go back to the home screen and tap on the radio app and then I have control again, doesn't cancel the nav. Turn by turn voice never works on my nav for some reason though.

Is this a thing? In 3 years I've never used Ford navigation so I haven't experienced this.

I used Ford navigation the other day for the first time and from my experience it seems to be just like Waze. You have to turn the volume down as Waze is speaking vehicle on shoulder ahead. You turn the volume down while it’s saying that and then when the radio is playing, you can turn the volume up, I was able to do the same thing with the Ford when Ford navigation started talking. I turned it down and then my radio I turned it up. I swear I don’t see a mute button anywhere on my steering wheel. I was looking for that the other day, I thought it was on the steering wheel. Maybe that was my other car ?

I have experienced this problem, where the Prompt Volume takes over and I can't adjust the Radio Volume. It only goes away after I stop and restart the car. Exiting navigation doesn't seem to help.

I recently bought a Transit Custom and have a similar problem that's developed after a couple of months. When my phone is connected to the media screen and navigation commands are in use, the audio volume is sometimes disabled when the navigation prompt cuts in, but then returns on the next navigation prompt. It repeatedly does this until I reset the device or restart the van.
