Who Can Help? (Ford Can't!)

I've finally given up on Ford. My MME FE was delivered to Shropshire, on a trailer, from Edinburgh. I bagged one of the few FE's still available, so had to get it from distance. That is where the fun started. I'll leave most of the story till later. For now, I simply want someone who understands the car, to walk me through it.

I've done 800+ miles in it now and am learning daily, but this isn't how it should be with a £60k car.

We tried a handover before I got the car. The sales manager had 'taken the PC' with him, so the sales person couldn't get wi-fi in the car, so we couldn't really do anything, so cancelled it.

I got the car a day later and then waited another day before we tried to do a call to run me through things. They knew less than me and have not been able to advise on much of any value since. In fact, I've found out more on here than from them.

Today I called the helpline and spoke to a polite young man who knew nothing and was taking an age looking things up in the help file. I asked to speak to someone who knew how the car worked and could give me a quick walk through.

Apparently, the 2nd tier support, who know the answers, don't talk to customers! He would ask my questions, then relay them to me. I suggested this wouldn't work, as I had lots of quick fire questions and wouldn't want to spend an hour walking him through them simply to have to then wait to get info back (invariably, this sort of process is poor, at best).

SO, who fancies jumping on a GROUP ZOOM CALL to chat over all the options?
I'm happy to host it and record it for others.

Hers are some of my questions:
- How do I get my pic into the profile in the car?
- How do the 'clever' controls on the steering wheel work? (What do they do?)
- What is the difference between Adaptive Cruise and Intelligent Cruise and which fits what scenarios best?
- How do I stop my Sat Nav taking me down single track roads, when major (or at least A/B roads) are available? (Yes, I have it set to Fastest).
- How to set keyless door entry
- Can I then start the car?
- Does PaaK work in the UK?
- Anything else.

I HAVE looked at LOTS of videos and guides and yet I am still unable to resolve/answer many of the above.

I suggest getting a copy of the UK Owner's Manual, which should answer all of your questions.
In the US versions, you can actually access it from the main screen of the car. I find it much easier to use the PDF version you can download online.

Good question. Have you tried the Navigation preferences?

- How to set keyless door entry
As there is no PaaK in the UK, I'll leave this one to someone over there to answer. May be in your manual.

- Can I then start the car?
Do you mean is there a backup code? Yes. See manual.

- Does PaaK work in the UK?
No.

- Anything else.
Try the manual followed by the search feature on the Forum.

Thanks. I have the owner's manual, on-screen in the car and as a pdf, but it isn't overly helpful.
As an example, loading a pic into a profile. It didn't work from the app and the manual/screen says I need to add a picture in my contact list, but doesn't say where that is, or where to find it.

I had a profile pic in my Ford Pass. I have a profile pic on my phone (and I've tried a apple and android phone).

As for the other things, similar story. Intelligent doesn't slow down when it sees a slower limit. I've missed 2 speed cameras by luck, rather than by the 'abilities', or lack of them, of the car.

I could go on, but my main gripe is that Ford say "They are being 'green' by not printing out a manual', but then suggest that customers should do this for themselves. I call BS. This is a money saving trick and nothing else. Sure, add it in the car and as a pdf, but don't then suggest I print it out. That isn't green, especially as loads of it is wasted copy/warnings, etc.

Exactly my point. The manual isn't clear, or that helpful. For a £60k car Someone should know how to talk me through this. So, as per your post/link, add the email/details as per Ford Pass app.

I have read the manual, but it so sparse on info it is frightening. Again, why can no-one who works fo rthe company that made it and sold it to me, talk me through it.
Does Intelligent include features of Adaptive PLUS knowing to slow down when in a slower limit? Is that it?

Good question. Have you tried the Navigation preferences?
Yes. Of course. I've even taken another EV owner out with me who loves playing with tech and yet we ended up criss crossing a county using back lanes, instead of using 2 or 3 main roads. The detail, scaling and the way it directs you is simply 1980's.
The one good thing is that the text is legible, otherwise please let me have my old BMW back!
Not sure why it is so poor. I can't believe all Ford owners put up with this.

I know there isn't, but my aim was to do a Zoom to talk through it all and share 'how to's' with other new owners. I am sure I am not alone, or that others won't have the same issues.

Will take another look for this. I printed out the section on Keyless entry, but couldn't find it. Thought I had seen it, hence the question. I've set a personal keyless door entry code and it let's me in, no problem. It then won't allow me to start the car, so I can't enter a code to start it.

There is a 760 page UK thread which covers many, if not all of these, but I have a family, so don't really want to spend a week reading it to find out how my car works. I've trusted Ford and bought this, so surely they should be helpig me with this.

This wasn't/isn't a whinge thread, although believe me I could write several of those (this has been one of the least enjoyable car buying experiences of my life and I have bought and sold lots of cars!).

It was meant to be a chance to walk through some of the options and how they 'should' and 'do' work to help new owners to understand it better.
PS - Thanks for all your videos. Enjoyed watching them all while waiting for my car to arrive.

I had the issue with the profile photo myself. I never got i to work thru the ford pass app -then send to car way. First on you phone, in the contact list, make sure your contact info has the email you use for the ford pass app. Then make the photo you want to use the photo for you in your phones contact list. Next go to the car and connect to car but NOT thru apple car play or android auto. Next click the profile pic at the top of the cars screen. Click on your profile, then edit, change profile photo, then select the icon that looks like a blank contact list photo. It should then get the photo from your phone and place it on the car.

Adaptive cruise control you tell the car what speed you want to maintain, Intelligent Cruise control reads the speed limit signs and adjusts the speed according to what you have set in settings. +5 over, +10 over etc….. Both keeps lane change assist on, and both keep distance from car in front depending what you have set. I highly suggest watching this video and go they every setting in the settings.

This is the US version so may not be exactly the same:

PS - It doesn't matter to how good (or bad) the car is, but it is all part of the experience. A bad experience at the start is never good.

Doesn't make any difference. I am inundating Ford esales with screenshots of stupid detours, narrow lanes and dead ends that the Mach-E Sat Nav is addicted to. The sat nav is currently not fit for purpose in the UK.
