Nope. Just the lack of a button in FordPass. I actually hate carrying keys or fobs.
Jim, I'm very glad you finally can open your frunk from your door pillar and the screen. As for FP, I've had the frunk button on FP since day one (2022 MME) and honestly if you want to have easy access to the frunk, the Lightning fob is 100% the way to go. Opening FP, holding the frunk button, hoping the car will be awake enough to "listen", then unlocking the car with the unlock button when discovering that the car wasn't awake enough, then walking to the door to unlock the car when FP unlock failed too, then saying "@#$% it" and just pulling the damn lever inside the driver door, were all enough to make carrying the Lightning fob worth it. I love the frunk and love having easy access to it, but FP isn't it.

Should all 2021 Job 1 cars have it? Absol@#$%inglutely. But regardless the Lightning fob is the way to go.

Thanks for your updates. I've been trying to get frunk functionally for ages, and now have a programmed functioning lightning key fob that works for everything but the frunk button. Been trying to find someone in the forums to help me figure out what exactly I need to say to my dealer including modules. I messaged Mach Lee just now. For my regular use case I really could use the functionality of frunk release from my fob.
I have a job one delivered February 2021 and I bought a lightning key fob but it doesn't do anything which is disappointing. It's been to the dealer for a screen replacement and they said they installed any updates but I still don't have any funk functionality. I tried the door pillar and nothing happens.

I have a 2021 Job 1 First Edition and had to do the following steps, and now have finally gotten the frunk open functionality from a fob:
1) I had the dealer program and provide me with a second OEM Mach-E key fob, for free per Ford's bulletin that offers this to all early models that originally only came with 1 key fob.
2) I bought an F150 Lightning Key on eBay (that has the frunk button on it) and programmed it to my Mach-E (no dealer required, this can be done in a few minutes via YouTube tutorial as long as you have 2 original key fobs).
3) Had to take car to dealer and specifically ask them to "Use FDRS to update the BCM and GFM modules then run the routine that enables the center screen front trunk soft release button". Luckily my dealer understood what this request meant, but I advised them if the tech wasn't sure, to call Ford's technically hotline and they would walk them throug it as many customers have had this done by now. Some dealers will charge you for this so YMMV in getting it done for free. Sure enough the tech wasn't sure what to do but my specific instructions helped and they did it successfully in 1 day.

Now I have a frunk release button on the Sync screen, as well as fob that can pop open the frunk. If you have a Job 1 2021 model these are the steps you would also have to do to get a working frunk button and/or fob that opens the frunk. Alternatively, you can wait for Ford to push this update to Job 1 vehicles OTA but my money is on this never happening

My lightning key fob works for the car and was very easy to do but I just need a reason to go down to the dealer to have them do the update and not charge me for it! I wish I knew what to ask for when I had it in there a couple months ago and the service advisor said they did all the updates but obviously not.

Yeah from what most people have said who got it done for free, it was alongside other services that the dealer could bill Ford for, but if you're just taking it in for the module update they want to charge you. I had a case open with the Ford BEV team and my rep told me that module updates aren't technically part of the routine software updates they run....those are mostly Sync and core functionality related. The BCM and GFM modules updates for added functionality are more or less "optional" features that Ford is adding to newer vehicles and ever so slowly pushing out to older vehicles if and when they feel like it (or never). You'll probably have to pay $200 or wait until your next needed service and try to sneak it in alongside other Ford billable items
