Ok, here’s the update
TL;DR frunk now opens from door pillar and Sync screen. No other modules updated because Lincoln advised that modules are only updated in response to a specific issue brought forth by customer and able to be duplicated at dealer. The R/F (right front?) axle shaft was replaced.

Wordy version: They called mid-morning to tell me they could drop off my car or I could pick it up. I decided to print out the list of modules to be updated and procedure to enable the remote frunk release and go over to pick up the car. The service manager I was working with is the Lincoln Service Manager, who was just helping the Ford guys out (it’s a Ford - Lincoln dealer). Anyway, I showed him the list of modules to be updated (many thanks to @Mach-Lee !) and the procedure to enable the soft button on the screen. He wasn’t familiar with what I was showing him and went to get the tech who worked on my car. In the meantime, I went over to my car and verified that the frunk releases worked via 7/8 and it did (although it tried to release the frunk multiple times, which was odd). The service writer said I could leave the car and they’d run the procedure and look into the updates. He was very curious as to how I came across the list of updates and said I shouldn’t be entering my VIN into unknown websites. I explained yo him that there is a community of Mustang Mach e enthusiasts and some have purchased licenses for FDRS and are able to look up updates for other users. He still sounded skeptical and I assured him it was FDRS from ford and that people got it from Rotunda (I forget which website people are actually buying FDRS licenses from but I wanted to use words he’s recognize). A few hours later he calls me back and tells me my car is ready and they can drop it off, or I can pick it up. He was also apologetic about not being able to do the other module updates. He explained that he checked with his Lincoln contact (remember, he’s Lincoln service) and they advised that updates are only to be performed in response to a specific customer complaint that can be duplicated and where the corrective procedure is to apply the update. I get it. It’s not the answer we WANT to hear, but I understand the answer and rationale. It would be nice if Ford would offer a “the works” for module updates, but oh well.
So, I can open my frunk from the pillar and from the touchscreen. I’d say I’m 99% of the way there. Not done though! Everyone will recall that I’ve always complained about the lack of a remote frunk release. Until I can open my frunk from FordPass, I won’t be totally happy ???? yes, I know about the fob workaround and will certainly explore it, but I don’t carry keys and don’t want to start, just to open the funk ?
Thanks for your updates. I've been trying to get frunk functionally for ages, and now have a programmed functioning lightning key fob that works for everything but the frunk button. Been trying to find someone in the forums to help me figure out what exactly I need to say to my dealer including modules. I messaged Mach Lee just now. For my regular use case I really could use the functionality of frunk release from my fob.

Well, when I made my appointment, I was adamant about updating all of the modules, including the BCM and GCM, and I explained those two in particular had to be updated to get the frunk opening working. I also explained about the procedure that had to be run in FDRS to get the button on the display. Since my dealer did update those modules, I guess my specific, reproducible complaint about lack of functionality was enough to get those modules updated. Not that I could not report reproducible issues for any other module. Give it a shot.

This deserves its own thread. The title should be something like @Jimrpa finally has electronic frunk release. Hell hath frozen over.

Wow, thanks! But unicorns and sparkly butterflies won’t gather in front of the Glass House celebrating joyously until I get a remote frunk release ???

When you said it tried to release the frunk “multiple times,” do you mean that it did kind of a three-stage release? That’s “normal.”

So the story my dealer gave me is they actually try not to update modules. Reasoning is like all software patches, they're scared. And really don't want to have to click buttons a second time.

"If you update this module, it creates a fault in these other two, so you update those, which creates a fault in the 1st module you updates, so you update that another module faults.."

And yeah. It probably does happen. But how freakin long can it take to deploy a couple hundred megs of code, directly from a laptop.. In 2005 it was 5 to 10 min. I guess they only have 1 laptop and someone needs to watch Youtube shorts?

When you said it tried to release the frunk “multiple times,” do you mean that it did kind of a three-stage release? That’s “normal.”
Yeah it's freakin noisy, and embarrassing really. Some one gave me a look when I opened mine from the keypad to toss crap in. I told them "We have to keep the dragons locked up tight"

Yes, you can hear a definite “whirr”, 3 times when you either touch the button or press 7/8. Seems pretty odd if it’s “normal”. ???

So now it'll be grumbling about the key fobs being on backorder? ;)
Nope. Just the lack of a button in FordPass. I actually hate carrying keys or fobs.

They charged me for the state inspection. Oddly, they didn’t even charge me for the new wipers (they’re on the ticket, then credited out).

My dealer very much says "the more we update, the more issues we can uncover". That's why on my upcoming Lightning, I made it a condition of sale that every single module has to be updated, with a totally clear FDRS. I'm not buying a year old vehicle that isn't updated and then waiting months and months for updates.

I’m not sure how well lightnings are selling, but if he finds doing updates to be too time-consuming or a PITA, he may just find a less picky buyer ?

Already locked in. And the fact that I can find a 2022 mannequin should answer the first point. They are selling well in places that you would expect them to sell well, and not in places (boonies, deep south) where you would not expect them to sell well.
