Why does the door code pop the hood now?

This issue started after the update on Mar 31. It disappeared a day later. I haven't driven the for a week afterward. The car should have undergone another update on Apr 7. And today it's popping the hood again.

Is it a new feature? I don't like it. I am pretty satisfied with the old ways.

The hood pops up if you touch 8 after your 5-digit security code. Does your code end with the "8"? It is possible that you "double-touch" it.

Oh, then it is a new feature! How obscure!

No, but I wipe my prints from the panel after I put in the code, since 2021. I must also be rolling my thumb over the number normally.

Thank you.

Thanks for posting this question! It happened to me also, right after that update, and it was so baffling, and rather disconcerting.

Wiping prints really isn't necessary, even if they can see which buttons you pressed there are still hundreds of possible combinations they would have to cycle through and try. But the car will lock out long before they can do that. You only get about 7 attempts before a lockout. They would have to spends hours at it.

That particular update was partial fulfillment of a promise made by Ford regarding the job 1 2021's lack of a remote frunk release. With the update, you can now release the frunk hood by using your door code followed by 7-8. You should see the frunk release show up in FordPass soon as well — that takes a bit of time for the servers to catch up. A future sync update will add the frunk release button to the sync screen (near where the trunk release button is now).

At a certain point when you are plugging in a door code it has to cross your mine that opening it and pulling it twice may be faster? The one in the car on the sync screen would be handy the door pad not so much. Does the update give you the screen tap or just the app/door?

There was an extensive write up here after a failure of the actuator for the frunk hood, it did not sound like fun. That was on a job 1 car that got the old version of the update (6.7). I’ve used the handle ever since. On the other hand, I haven’t seen @Jimrpa posting about a failure now that his frunk hood is fully operational.

Once my frunk release was enabled, I’ve never had any problems with either the release not working or (more disturbingly) only partly releasing the frunk, leaving it in an un-openable/uncloseable state.
