Courtesy wipe is something different though - that controls whether after using the mist/washer function if it will wait a few seconds and then do one more pass to clear any remaining droplets (how effective it is at doing that is another question).

Mine does both the one-wipe at start up and the occasional random wipe while driving. No seasonal or light condition correlation that I can discern. The Mustang Mach E is the first Ford I’ve owned with auto-wipers that exhibit is behavior ?‍♂ my solution is to leave them off unless it looks like it’s going to precipitate.

Yes. And I would call the startup wipe a discourtesy wipe.

I was parked at my office one day and some roofers came to make some repairs. Turns out that some of the micro gravel probably got blown all onto my car during the repairs. I figured, no worry...I'll take the car to an automated car wash and get all that off. Well, turned on the car...and WIPE...scratched my windshield! Annoying. If anything like that happens again....I need to think to turn off the auto wiper before starting the car.

I don’t leave my wipers on. I do get random rear and front wipes when turning on. It’s not a problem but is annoying.
