I'm a newer Mach-E owner at this point (3 weeks) coming from a Tesla. I'm loving the choice to come to this platform.

Two questions that I have around connectivity. I'm watching my wifi network, and when I have the car off, it does not join the network. Is there some method that I should enable the vehicle to attempt to maintain connectivity while at home? Do I need to enable the home network? The reason for this is I'd like to get the car to the latest version of the software/power up?? I am on 4.2.1 from what I can see. I have updates set to install at 1am originally, now moved to 3:01am, just because. Is it possible that the connected services are not enabled properly?

Second, is how do the maps get updated? I'm seeing some newer areas are not showing up on the Ford system for navigation. I mean most of the time I'm probably using CarPlay anyhow, but it would be nice to get the maps updated. Would this get covered in the first part?

Appreciate the forum and seeing what we can move forward in the Mach-E world!

Good question about the WiFi. Mine isn’t showing up either. Neither did it when I started the car and it said it was connected. Maybe it only connects when it needs to.
Also, I have 2 juiceboxes and they don’t show up either, but are connected because I can talk to it, and it sends charging notifications.

Here’s what my Eero shows. Basically: don’t worry.

It only connects when it wants to. It usually sends a very trivial amount of data and then hangs up.

Its always been like that in the years I’ve owned it. It’s very rare that I catch it actually connected at the moment I’m looking.

Don’t worry about WiFi. The updates will come over cellular.

They seem to do both. Sometimes I can see they came over WiFi. Sometimes not.

It’s clear WiFi isn’t necessary. But it does get used sometimes.

It might get used for some things if available, but you don’t miss anything without it. Ford could send an update that requires WiFi, but they haven’t.

WiFi is necessary at my place since there is no cell service here.

Oh, I'm good if this wants to join wifi, in fact, I want it to. I have plenty of network services available to the vehicle to get all the data it needs. I just need to find a way to coax it to start downloading the update. I activated the hotspot services just a short bit ago, maybe that will coax it into getting updates going.

There really is no way to coax it. Mach Es are very stubborn ponies that will only do things on their own schedule.

Connect to your Wi-Fi if you can (because why not), drive it normally, things will happen when it decides.

Activating the Hotspot will do nothing except use your trial.
