Exactly what I was thinking!

There was a story in the news not too long ago about kids dropping rocks onto cars from overpasses in the Seattle/Tacoma area. The first thing that came to my mind when I saw your picture was that it looks like those ne'er-do-wells are back.

Checked it out in better light today and it looks like a piece from a truck tire came hurtling down (southbound is about twelve feet higher). Clear tire impression on the glass. Explains the thud rather than a bang.

I stay off the freeway as much as possible for this reason. An 18 wheeler going 75 mph is much better at launching relativistic rocks etc than an auto doing 60 or less on a side road ??.

Retreads should not be street legal. Glad you are ok.

My got cracked by rock chip on freeway 3 weeks ago.
Ouch, that’s a decent crack. I had a small crack-fixed a month ago! Snuck in behind a truck and thought I shouldn’t do this then bang! Joys of driving.
