Has anyone used wireless Car Play or Android Auto in something other than the Mach E? What was your experience like?

I'm kind of curious now because of an experience I had this last week. (I previously mentioned it on the galaxy s20 thread)

In my car I have the occasional drop out/lag. On startup it connects automatically about half of the time. Based on what I see on the forum, that's par for the course. And I thought that's just how wireless AA was... Until this last week. For work I was traveling and rented a Chrysler Pacifica.. yes yes I know. Very sexy. But the wireless AA experience on the Pacifica ruined me. It was flawless. No drops, no lags, instant connection every time. WAYYY better than my Mach E's wireless AA.

So I'm curious now? Is the Pacifica a unicorn for wireless phone projection? Or does Ford just suck at it?

I use CarPlay and it works 100% on my MME. I haven't had any other access to cars with wireless CarPlay as an option.

I'm using CarPlay in my Honda Civic and it works pretty well. I do have times where I would need to unlock the phone for CarPlay to launch. 90% of the time it automatically connects.

I've had a couple of rentals with wireless AA. GMC Yukon and Chevy Malibu. The Yukon worked great. It connected quickly, then I put my phone on the wireless charging pad. The Malibu didn't seem to hook up as fast, and it didn't have wireless charging, so I plugged in most of the time.

I leave my iPhone in my pocket most of the time and it automatically connects to CarPlay every time and never drops out. If only the Paak connection could be so solid.

I’ll put another hand up for the “it has worked quickly and flawlessly every time” camp. It’s usually up and ready before I can even get my car into reverse. There is about a 3/4 sec lag on things like advancing musical tracks, but overall I’m very pleased with it.

My Pixel 3 works with wireless AA in Mach E flawlessly.

Well, to be accurate, once it started working. Neither wired nor wireless AA works at all at the time I took delivery of my Mach E. A Chrome fix made wired AA work, and then AA fix made wireless AA work.

For me, wireless CarPlay sometimes connects within a few seconds, other times 30 seconds. Also totally drops and has to restart every time I pass certain locations on the freeway. My best guess is that strong WiFi signals are interfering and overwhelming the Bluetooth ability to find a new open frequency. No such dropout or startup delays when using CarPlay with the same phone in our Subaru.

After the AA fix in late feb/early march my pixel 5 connects every time. I did have an issue once with MLB.tv restarting (it only plays audio), but AA works fine for me. PAAK not so much, but I don't care I just carry my fob
