Wife and I stayed in the back of the car this weekend out in Ocotillo Wells, CA in the desert. Put the car into a manual "camp mode" since there is no official one out yet (hopefully one day).

Pushed front seats all the way forward and tilted all the way forward, put these behind the front seats to fill the void:

Used this mattress:

Started the car, turned off auto off 30 min timer, turned off headlights, set temp to 66 degrees on auto 2, put screen in calm mode, and went to sleep. The void fillers come with sleep masks which worked great once the sun was coming up, so that allowed us to sleep in.

Overall, it was the best sleep we have had out there since the climate control was WAY better than a tent. Just a little cramped left to right, but more than enough room for us both to stretch out top to bottom. We used 5% of the battery overnight each night. Lows were in the mid 50s so it wasn't having to work too hard in the middle of the night, but gets hot quick when the sun comes up.

14-50 plug I installed a couple weeks before the car arrived also worked great so we had no problem charging out there!

--3/9/23 edit - some additional thoughts I've had since I wrote this.

We turned off the interior lights automatically turning on when a door is open, as the lights being on when we were getting in at night was attracting bugs.

You might want to turn profiles off during this, as if you are walking around with the key and come back to the car the seat might go back to your preferred position messing up the mattress/void fillers.

We keep a microfiber towel that we use to clean the touchscreen in the car; we put that over the IPC to block some of the light. An extra one to drape over the main screen would help with some light pollution as well in the car. Also some people can't stand the little blue lights by the map lights button, people have used webcam covers to cover those up.

I’m 5’11 and have car camped several times like that before races. This was in my select and I am so excited to try it with the pano roof in the premium. Can stretch out even better than I could in my 2016 Outback for which I fabricated a modular setup. That’s awesome you only lost 5% - I have been too worried to try. Car stayed running all night?

That's pretty cool! I would like to try that one day but my IPC buzzes and I'm sure that will drive me nuts all night!! Haha guess some earplugs could do the trick.

Did the IPC stay on all night I'd imagine? Wish there was some way to turn it off for something like this.

Yes it did stay on, the glow wasn't too bad. I would guess an actual camp mode would shut that off.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Camping Overnight in the Mach-E -- an owner's experience 1648644815876

My GF and I camped in my premium and volunteered at Ironman MD last year. I'm 6', she's like 5'8", both athletic build. A little tighter than a tent. Couldn't sit up, but could stretch out. But we slept well. We brought or tri bikes, which traveled on a SeaSucker set up on the roof.
We had trouble keeping the car "on" and the screen off (put a towel over it). I've since gotten the update at the dealer so hoping the "don't turn off" setting actually works. We ended up opening the windows and hatch. We zipped the tenting and had screens for the windows.

Luggage in the Frunk. Everything stores under the back floorboard when not in use.

we have one of these (i'll edit with the MACH E later ) phone being mean. we were towing with a BOLT... Plenty of room for myself. wife and 70 pound selfish and stretched out dog, we run a lot, so the A/C is awsome. seeing more EV owners camping is sweet. I hope Ford does do a camp mode, so if we are tripping, and want to just sprawlout and nap. stay safe. great post!!!! @GuliblGuy
